Maybe that was the first known school shooting in Europe.

In Canada:

Markdale School shooting, Markdale, Ontario, August 25 1884, The 28-year-old head teacher, William Norris wounded Miss Ford, a teacher who had rejected his advances, with three shots. He then fatally shot himself through the head.

In New Zealand:

Waikino Schoolhouse shooting, New Zealand, October 19, 1923, Two children killed and nine wounded, including the headmaster, by John Higgins. This is the first and only school shooting to occur in New Zealand.

In the United States:

July 26, 1764, Greencastle, Pennsylvania, Enoch Brown school massacre: Perhaps the earliest shooting to happen on school or college property, in what would become the United States, was the notorious Enoch Brown school massacre during the Pontiac's War. Three Native Americans entered the schoolhouse near present-day Greencastle, Pennsylvania, shot and killed schoolmaster Enoch Brown, and nine children (reports vary). Only two children survived.

November 12, 1840, Charlottesville, Virginia, John Anthony Gardner Davis, a law professor at the University of Virginia, was shot by student Joseph Semmes, and died from his wound three days later.

As long as there have been schools, there have been attacks on them.

There is probably an instance where an educational facility was assaulted by an enemy tribe or people, a thousand years ago, with longbows or something.

The modern trope of mass murderers is nothing new. They've been around as long as humanity has been.
