| When I started researching Columbine in 2008 it struck me as unique because there were 2 shooters. Rarely is that a thing. Theres always usually one.
The next thing is the amount of material left behind. The references to music, movies, books, and games in their journal. I dont think theres ever been quite an amount to go off of since Columbine.
The bond they mustve shared must've been so strong to the point where they were literally willing to KILL and die together.
I wonder what their friendship was like behind the camera and how close they really were. |

| Well if you go by witness testimony/A Mothers reckoning you see that Eric had a much harder time making friends or at least keeping friends whereas Dylan did not. This made Dylan guilty whenever he wanted to blow-off plans with Eric, which might explain all the time they spent together the last 24 months or so. That being said I think Dylan was looking for a way out and Eric provided it; Likely not his first choice but the most realistic. I don't think Dylan ever wanted to just off himself one night in his room and end up as a somber footnote in the yearbook. He wanted to be remembered. They both hated that school, albeit for different reasons. And they used that hate & anger to motivate eachother until the point of no return, whether it was when they bought the guns or standing on Rebel hill in April. | |

From what I remember reading it was only towards the end that they started to retreat from their other friends, I find their friendship fascinating. _________________ "And you know, you know, you know, this can be beautiful, you say you're numb inside, but I can't agree. I wonder what their friendship was like behind the camera and how close they really were. Based on what I've read in various books on Columbine (e.g., "Columbine" by Dave Cullen, "Comprehending Columbine," "A Mother's Reckoning", and "Columbine: A True Crime Story"), I think that Eric and Dylan share many personality traits that make their union inevitable. However, it seems that Dylan never grew out of his nervous, shy behavior, while Eric was starting to grow out of his shell. There's more evidence that Dylan, if given the chance, would have grown out of his angry, sullen tendencies, but I doubt he would grow out of his social anxiety and self-loathing. Dylan's unstable self-image and poor social skills make him susceptible to peer influence, while Eric latches onto another violent individual with identical personality traits. So, therefore, I think their friendship was more like a mutual partnership between like-minded individuals. | |
