What did Eric and Dylan think of the afterlife Empty

I know they mocked religion and that something was mentioned one way or another from the shooters to victims about god, but they didn't seem like outright atheists. They talked about becoming ghosts and haunting the survivors. I know they talked about suicide, but It doesn't really seem like they ever said anything about where they think they would go after they die... is there any evidence that shows they thought they would cease to exist or go somewhere? I mean this MUST have crossed there minds when they were thinking about the suicide or at the very least about to do it.

From documents & newspaper snippets of the Basement Tapes:

“This is the suicide plan.” Eric, referencing/explaining a part from his journal.

"Hopefully, death is like being in a dream state.” Eric.

They say they hope the afterlife -- if there is one -- is like spending eternity in Doom, the video game they love most. Eric says it would be neat if the afterlife included getting to look at the world's mysteries. Like the deepest part of the Pacific Ocean.

Klebold: Hey mom. Gotta go. It’s about a half an hour before our little judgment day. I just wanted to apologize to you guys for any crap this might instigate as far as [inaudible] or something. Just know I’m going to a better place. I didn’t like life too much and I know I’ll be happy wherever the fuck I go. So I’m gone. Good-bye. Reb... Dylan takes the camera then and begins filming Eric.
"I didn't like life very much," Dylan said. "Just know I'm going to a better place than here."
“Just know I’m going to a better place,” Klebold says. “I didn’t like life too much."

They talk about being ghosts who will haunt the survivors - "create flashbacks from what we do," Eric promises, "and drive them insane."
Eric and Dylan rambled at length on the targets of their hatred and even vowed to return as ghosts to haunt the survivors with flashbacks and drive them insane.
They smile over shared schoolboy memories, curse humankind, speak fondly of their parents and joke about the fun they might have as ghosts, making scary noises.
Eric also made the chilling statement that the duo would haunt the survivors as ghosts. We will "create flashbacks from what we do" and "drive them insane," he said.

In my opinion Dylan believed in a kind of reincarnation. Remember the entry from his diary?
Quote :
Existence is a great hall, life is one of the rooms, death is passing thru the doors, & the everexistent
compulsion of everything is the curiosity to keep moving down the hall, thru the doors, exploring rooms, down this never-ending hall. Questions make answers, answers conceive questions, and at long last he is content.

"Everexistent" is an eternal being that lives outside of time and space. As far as I understand, he represents his own life as a room. When a person dies, death opens the door of the room and releases him into this huge hall, where he wanders in search of a new room, ie a new life. And in his diary Dylan refers to "rooms":
Quote :
I want to find a room in the great hall & stay there w my love forever.
This room sucks wanna die

Dylan seemed to know the "great mystery" of existence, which no one but he could not understand. You can say that Dylan has his own religion ... Well it looks at least strange... and most likely it is a manifestation of the delusions inherent to certain mental illnesses. Although it seems quite interesting. It's hard to say whether Dylan believed to the end in his version of the afterlife, or it was just a temporary escape from reality, just a fantasy, a hope after death to find peace of mind.

Dylan reminds me of a character in the movie "K-PAX". In this film a patient in a psychiatric clinic, which was saying pretty crazy things, but so convincingly that forced to doubt even the most experienced psychiatrist. alien

Erik just fantasizing over what it would be like the afterlife, if it existed. He definitely does not believe in the religious version.

In fact, what happens to a person after death? Sleep without dreams, who knows...

Well, obviously Dylan thought there might be some afterlife, although he wasn't sure what it would be. That what the alleged quote from the BT is all aout: "Just know I'm going to a better place. I didn't like life too much and I know I'll be happy wherever the fuck I go. So I'm gone. Good-bye."
