Didn't know where else to post this. However since it's concerning all these shootings and I have a question or thought about them this may be the best place to post it.

I remember the day Columbine happened and I remember watching the news and everyone was talking about it. Every channel had this airing all over the TV. Similar to 9/11. Now we have this last shooting and it's like the only expression is to shrug and say another one. Are we becoming numb to these shootings? Or is something wrong with me?

I think we have already became numb to shootings. They happen so much that it's not really shocking anymore. The deadliest shooting in US history happened only 5 months ago and you don't really hear much about it anymore

Sadly I agree. People have become so used to seeing this that it really doesn't seem to have much impact anymore. Sad

It's probable that the news has to talk about it dispassionately - or at least they do in the UK. I can watch the news and be completely numb to it. However, give me an in depth look at the crime and I feel deeply sad - stories like flight 11 and Sue Klebold's interview were incredibly sad. Maybe you just need to view the information in a different format.

It actually took me a few seconds before I figured out you were talking about Las Vegas...

Maybe as a society, but this one had emotional impact on me. I think people are numb from the status quo because nothing changes in politics and how we approach this issue.

It may be the way the news is however, and how they move forward so quickly. I mean the shooting in Vegas, then in Texas and now in Florida. They only spend about a week or two on the matter until something else catches their funny. I remember when Columbine happened the reporting went on for months and they spent time talking about it.

Now it just changes to topic of gun control. The irony is if it because to the point where they take guns from people to prevent these kinds of shootings. I know people who would pull the trigger at anyone who fringes on out rights. The act of taking guns will only lead to more killing.

They happen so often now I guess it's natural to feel a little shut out.
