Not quite, she was dead almost immediately after being shot but there was confusion as to whether or not she was actually since a SWAT medic claimed he felt a pulse which led to EMS and other people checking her multiple times although it turned out that the medic was incorrect and that she had been dead all along. This confusion about her status was cited in the medical response power-point as one of the things that went wrong during the LE response to the shooting since it wasted time (apparently she was injured badly enough that she was probably killed almost instantly). The only people who were not dead at the scene were: Chris Hixon, who was shot several times in the legs, abdomen, and torso. He was the first victim (other than Feis who was clearly dead due to suffering a gunshot to the back of the head) the west entry SWAT team encountered and they immediately put him on the golf cart to take him to the triage area but he apparently was dead by the time they got there (the triage area was the tent they set up at the intersection next to the school) and was injured badly enough when they found him that he was incoherent and couldn't speak. The other victim who survived for a bit before dying was Martin Duque, although like Hixon he was apparently dead either en route to the triage area or while en route to the hospital iirc. If you haven't seen the medical response powerpoint along with similar documents I can send them to you if you'd like, they're definitely some of the most interesting and in-depth info to be released thus far.

Do you have a source for that by any chance ? Not doubting you or anything given that the medical response report noted she died of a close range near contact wound to the chest, but if your source is from somewhere else I'd be interested in reading it since the description you gave sounds pretty detailed.

Thank you for the clarification. One can only hope that these victims did not suffer long die to the grave injuries inflicted by an AR-15. This is so heartbreaking to read, even after more than a year.

Yeah no problem. And I think while some did unfortunately suffer (as is the case for getting shot with any type of gun regardless of caliber or model), I think that a lot of them likely died very quickly before the adrenaline rush wore off or just died instantly (if they were shot in the head). Of course that's in a physical sense since all of them other than maybe the first 3, absolutely suffered psychologically and were very scared in their last moments due to the fact that they knew what was going on.

Apparently a while back Peter Wang's cousin said he was shot in the head

According to 'Why Meadow Died' from Andrew Pollack, Cara Loughran was been shot prior to Meadow shielding her. This is why she did not flee with the other students.

"Meadow had been right next to Joaquin in front of the woman's bathroom. She tried to cross the hallway, but was shot four times. She crawled to a classroom, but the door was locked (as it was supposed to be). Next to her was freshman Cara Loughran, who had also been shot. Meadow draped her body over Cara's to protect her. Five more shots went through both of their bodies."
