Smash-The Offspring. I recently found the lyrics written in Dylan's school planner. The song just played on my playlist and it's actually extremely fitting.

Head over heels I've fit in before
Now I don't want to do it no more
I've held it all in with blood on my face
Built it up man so bad you can taste

I don't slag no one
I don't even judge
Don't give a shit cause I'm not gonna budge
I just want to be who I want to be
Guess that's hard for others to see

I'm not a trendy asshole
I do what I want
I do what I feel like
I'm not a trendy asshole
I don't fuck if it's good enough for you
'Cause I'm alive

Smash is the way you feel all alone
Like an outcast you're out on your own
Smash is the way you deal with your life
Like an outcast you're smashing your strife

Head over heels I've fit in before
Now I don't want to do it no more
I just want to be who I want to be
Guess that's hard for others to see

The Columbine Memorial service reminded me of this Stone Roses song:

"I am the Resurrection"

Down down, you bring me down
I hear you knocking at my door and I can't sleep at night
Your face, it has no place
No room for you inside my house I need to be alone

Don't waste your words I don't need anything from you
I don't care where you've been or what you plan to do

Turn turn, I wish you'd learn
There's a time and place for everything I've got to get it through
Cut loose, you're no use
I couldn't stand another second in your company

Don't waste your words I don't need anything from you
I don't care where you've been or what you plan to do

Stone me, why can't you see
You're a no-one nowhere washed up baby who'd look better dead

Your tongue is far too long
I don't like the way it sucks and slurps upon my every word

Don't waste your words I don't need anything from you
I don't care where you've been or what you plan to do

I am the resurrection and I am the light
I couldn't ever bring myself to hate you as I'd like

______________________

It could be sung in regards to the killers, I guess. Lots of calls for Christianity after the shooting, and this song quotes Jesus.

Hello,Mary Lou by Statler Brothers. Dylan and Marla Foust always come to my mind, when I hear it( despite the fact, that I know that there are no evidences that she was his crush)

I think of Dylan with this song. Always.

Slip by Autechre also makes me think of Dylan. [ Amazing song, honestly. ]

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] and [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] I just wanted to mention as an aside that this isn't the first time Deftones modified their lyrics in the album insert. Specifically, the song 'Mx' from 'Around the Fur':

Within the first few lines of the song, Chino clearly states 'you're so sweet/your smile/your PUSSY and your bones' yet in the booklet it reads, 'your MAGAZINE and your bones'. Like what? The two words don't even sound similar. And 'your magazine'? Is he talking about, like, a periodical? ...Or is it gun related? In which case, talking about someones' cat (HAH) would be preferential, no? And why change that word? I think it's safe to assume any fan of the Deftones has heard the word 'pussy' before. Then again, maybe originally they really did say 'your magazine' and changed it to 'pussy' after the booklet pressing. But I can't even imagine fitting the word in there at all.

It should also be noted, when you look up the lyrics online nowadays, it does say 'your pussy'. I was starting to think I was insane and imagined it saying 'magazine' in the booklet...good thing we actually have a copy of that album and I was able to confirm my suspicions.

Still. There goes my weekend.

Haha damn. I never caught that, and this was one of my favorite CD's from way back in my early high school days. Poor deftones, always gotta change their wording for the sake of sensitive ears...

I wonder why no one ever thought there name was pronounced 'Deft ones'. I mean, I guess there probably was at least one person.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], so "skilled" ones lol that would be funny if that's what they were actually going for. I always thought of deftones...like tone deaf but, there is no "a" so, I guess that doesn't make sense either, eh? Hmmm, has Chino ever explained the name? I'm now very intrigued by this lol.

Hahaha. Sorry. I'm a fool that tends to overthink things.

Whenever I've heard the name it's always been 'Def-tones'. I just noticed one day it also says 'Deft ones', haha.

Puscifer- The Arsonist. Aside from the hilarity of the Beavis and his love of fire reference, this song reminds me of Eric.

The Arsonist

Fire, fire, the bridge is on fire
Burning away your last connection
Fire, fire, our bridge is on fire
Your social skills resemble arson

You seem okay with this
So deleterious
Remorse for you is not an option

What’s the matter, Beavis?

Why you gotta burn, gotta burn it all down?

What’s the matter, Beavis?

Burning it all down
Burn down all the bridges

Fire, fire, shit’s on fire
Beavis sure do love his matches

Choking on the smoke from the fire you’ve started
Choking on the ash from the bridges you’ve burned

Daddy didn’t love you, gotta burn it all down
What’s the matter, Beavis?
Not the better brother, gotta burn it all down
What’s the matter, Beavis?
Why you gotta burn, gotta burn it all down?

Choking on the smoke from the fire you’ve started
Choking on the ash from the bridges you’ve burned

As well as obviously Pumped Up Kicks, Heathens by Twenty One Pilots kind of reminds me of Columbine: "You'll never know the psychopath sitting next to you, you'll never know the murderer sitting next to you."

There's also Mad World by Gary Jules, and My Immortal by Evanescence. I can imagine it being told by Sue Klebold's point of view- "When you cried I'd wipe away all of your tears, when you'd scream I'd fight away all of your fears, and I held your hand through all of these years"

This song by Lil Mouse reminds me of the 13 killed at Columbine

Very Happy

i really think that kmfdm's "today" fits so well. like its actually kind of scary given that it wasn't written about them at a later date and that its album "adios" came out on 4/20/1999. the lyrics are:

Isolation
When you leave it's like I disappear
Desolation
Everytime you go it feels like
Seconds slowly turn to minutes
A month of Sundays coming up
Time again it pulls me under
Wonder if I'll ever rise above
It's too much but not enough

Misery loves company
For a little bit of sympathy

It's here today
but it's gone tomorrow
It's hear today
and today will never come again

Desperation
Sinking into somewhere dark and cold
Deviation
A place I knew I did not want to go
To forget is all I know

Minutes slowly turn to hours
Another moment passes by
Seconds of eternity
I wonder if it' time to say goodbye...

like it talks about the minutes and hours slowing down which i know it must have felt like. then it says "a month of sundays coming up" so the whole idea of all the funerals, grieving and praying for the victims. and i think that the line "misery loves company for a little bit of sympathy" could go with the whole topic of there being two shooters and how both of their personalities combined was quite a deadly mix or something. "desperation, sinking into somewhere dark and cold" could be talking about their state of mind, and the fact that it refers to "deviation" is interesting because the whole event is a kind of deviation from the norm. the whole "time to say goodbye" ending is very eerie as well. the title could obviously refer to the columine massacre and the repetition of "its gone tomorrow" and "today will never come again" really emphasises the finality of eric and dylan's actions, and how the naivety of all the students lives is forever gone.

i know that this, of course cannot be real, because the song was released on the day of the shooting, but it fits so well and will always remind me of columbine.

Good point. I think even Lil' Bow Wow changed his name to just Bow Wow once his balls dropped.

Bones- Teenwitch (The entire album is based on columbine so every song on that album)

KMFDM-Meglomaniac

Avril Lavigne- I Miss You/Slipped Away (One of my absolute favorite tribute videos features this song with all the victims, its so touching and the song always reminds me of columbine due to that plus the lyrics are very fitting as well)

Foster The People- Pumped Up Kicks

Deftones- Change

Billy Talent- Nothing To Lose

Nine Inch Nails- A Warm Place

Simple Plan- Perfect

Marilyn Manson- The Nobodies

Eminem- I'm Back (Not really the whole song, but the one particular line about standing them all in line, add an AK-47..it was censored back in 99 due to obvious reasons

Tyler The Creator- Pigs

Nicole Dollanganger- Rampage

Nicole Dollanganger- Creek Blues

Teeza-Berlin (No lyrics in the song, however there was a fan edit/vine whatever you want to call it with the song in the background and it just fit so well with memories flashing through your head)
