Unfortunately, Setting Sun by The Chemical Brothers
Probably because Dylan wore a shirt of it in a lot of the home videos.

I said this in another forum post, but "Building A Mystery" by Sarah Mclachlan always makes me think og the entire Columbine massacre, from the planning that Eric and Dylan did, to the day of the tragedy, even to the day or two afterward when I believe Joan Lunden or Diane Sawyer did Good Morning America live from Columbine High. That song, every time I hear it, ALWAYS reminds me of Columbine.
On a side note, "Three Libras" by A Perfect Circle reminds me of the sorrowful and tragic life of Eric and Dylan and the inner turmoil that they faced. I hear that song and it's like the lyrics are talking about Eric and Dylan....
And then in a milder tone, the song "Stole" by Kelly Rowland, it somewhat makes me think of Eric and Dylan and the inner turmoil and inner, hidden pain they had, especially the last line where Kelly sings - "we were here, all together yesterday." Wow, that still gives me chills, because it's true about Columbine, just that Friday, in the halls, in the commons, all of them (including E&D) were alive and together and then Monday - boom! Tragedy and death, so that song always hits me in the feels as well and also reminds me of Columbine.

Probably already been said but Rock Bottom by Eminem always reminds me of the hopelessness those two were probably experiencing. Here's a few lyrics:
I feel like I'm walkin' a tight rope without a circus net Poppin' Percocet, I'm a nervous wreck I deserve respect but I work a sweat for this worthless check I'm about to burst this Tec at somebody to reverse this debt here's people that love me and people that hate me But it's the evil that made me this backstabbin', deceitful and shady I want the money, the women, the fortune and fame If it means I end up burnin' in hell, scorchin' in flamesThat's rock bottom, when this life makes you mad enough to kill That's rock bottom, when you want something bad enough to steal That's rock bottom, when you feel like you've had it up to here Cause you mad enough to scream but you're sad enough to tear

Iris by Goo Goo Dolls and Self Esteem by The Offspring
Iris mainly reminds me of Vodka, Self Esteem is more to Eric somehow

I bet this has already been mentioned, but here it is anyway.
The NIN song "Burn" reminds me of not only Columbine, but mass murder in general.

I Think "Everyday Is Exactly The Same"by NIN Would've been a favorite of Dylan's. I can definitely picture him listening to this alone during a drive to school or on his way home from a late shift at Blackjack.

For some reason, when I heard the song Cool Kids by Echosmith, I instantly thought of Eric and Dylan:
She sees them walking in a straight line, That's not really her style And they all got the same heartbeat But hers is falling behind Nothing in this world could Ever bring them down Yeah, they're invincible, and she's just in the background And she says
I wish that I could be like the cool kids 'Cause all the cool kids, they seem to fit in I wish that I could be like the cool kids Like the cool kids
He sees them talking with a big smile But they haven't got a clue Yeah, they're living the good life Can't see what he is going through They're driving fast cars But they don't know where they're going In the fast lane, living life without knowing And he says
I wish that I could be like the cool kids 'Cause all the cool kids, they seem to fit in I wish…

So, here are some songs that remind me of Columbine:
- "Macbeth - April" (Well, it's actually a German song about the school shooter Robert Steinhäuser who killed 16 people in 2002 but I also think of Eric and Dylan when I listen to this one.)
- "Korn - Thoughtless" ("All of my hate cannot be bound, I will not be drowned by your thoughtless scheming so, you can try to tear me down, beat me to the ground, I will see you screaming." This part of the song reminds me of the shooters' homicidal thoughts and the bullying at Columbine, they wanted revenge.)
- "The Smiths - Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me" (This song describes mostly Dylan's feelings because he wanted to be loved and he was also hurt.
"Last night I dreamt That somebody loved me No hope, no harm Just another false alarm Last night I felt Real arms around me No hope, no harm Just another false alarm So, tell me how long Before the last one? And tell me how long Before the right one? The story is old - I know But it goes on The story is old - I know But it goes on Oh, goes on And on Oh, goes on And on")
I could continue and mention more songs, but I think three are enough.

For some reason the song "She is Suffering" by Manic Street Preachers seems like a song Dylan would had liked. I mean it came out in 1994 so maybe he listened to it. It's all about how loving "her" is Suffering, seems fitting.

For some reason this song reminds me of columbine. As I've mentioned in other posts, I was a high school senior, 5 weeks from graduation myself, when Columbine happened. This song has a late 90s vibe to me in the "heavy as the setting sun" part and some of the lyrics seem appropriate to pre-massacre E&D. It's fairly new, but always gives me weird nostalgia when I hear it.
&Run by Sir Sly
You could be another face that I forget soon as I move along Everybody makes mistakes, am I mistaken for the way I carry on? You could show a little grace, but maybe things just went a bit too far We are just who we are No time for "what if"s and "what if not"s
Heavy as the setting sun Oh, I'm counting all the numbers between zero and one Happy, but a little lost Well, I don't know what I don't know so I'll kick my shoes off and run (yeah) Kick my shoes off and run Kick my shoes off and run (run, we'll be running barefoot) Kick my shoes off and run Kick my shoes off and
You could be a happy bride and we could still be blissfully in love Instead of being twenty-five and already feeling like you have had enough You could be my one regret, infinitely spiraling me down Sometimes the world feels loud
Heavy as the setting sun Oh, I'm counting all the numbers between zero and one Happy, but a little lost Well, I don't know what I don't know so I'll kick my shoes off and run (yeah)
Kick my shoes off and run Kick my shoes off and run (run, we'll be running barefoot) Kick my shoes off and run Kick my shoes off and
Run Run, run, run Run Run, run, run
Heavy as the setting sun Oh, I'm counting all the numbers between zero and one (run, run, run) Happy, but a little lost Well, I don't know what I don't know so I'll kick my shoes off and Run into the setting sun
run into the setting sun (Run, run, run) I'll run into the setting sun (Run, run, run) I'll run into the setting sun

I once saw someone say that he wanted to rescue Lauren Townsend like the singer of this song wanted to rescue Anne Frank.
I think this song can be a memorial for all the innocent victims.
But now we must pick up every piece Of the life we used to love Just to keep ourselves At least enough to carry on
And here's where your mother sleeps And here is the room where your brothers were born Indentations in the sheets Where their bodies once moved but don't move anymore And it's so sad to see the world agree That they'd rather see their faces fill with flies All when I'd want to keep white roses in their eyes

This song literally reminds me of them so much its kinda sad how perfectly fitting the song is, and especially every time hear you Sue call Dylan her sunshine boy, I also think of this song.

I also have to add I always thought if the lyrics were switched around in some parts the song would fit them entirely such as that verse with "world" being switched out with "school".... LOL additional random thought.
"Meteor rise from obscurity All it took was a killing spree And the whole SCHOOL was lying at your feet Golden boy"

Jimmy Donn's Game Over, which was also Jeff Weise's favorite song. It reminds me not just of Eric, Dylan and Jeff but most school shooters in general, especially these lyrics. "Just so they can feel for a day, what I've been feeling all along" and "I wish like hell you would have cared back when I tried to reach out, with one bullet left, I turn and put the gun in my mouth"

"Brothers in Arms" by Dire Straits
These mist covered mountains Are a home now for me But my home is the lowlands And always will be
Some day you'll return to Your valleys and your farms And you'll no longer burn To be brothers in arms
Through these fields of destruction Baptisms of fire I've witnessed your suffering As the battle raged high
And though they did hurt me so bad In the fear and alarm You did not desert me My brothers in arms
There's so many different worlds So many different suns And we have just one world But we live in different ones
Now the sun's gone to hell And the moon riding high Let me bid you farewell Every man has to die
But it's written in the starlight And every line in your palm We're fools to make war On our brothers in arms

"Paranoid" by Black Sabbath. It feels like a peek inside Eric's brain.
Finished with my woman 'cause she couldn't help me with my mind People think I'm insane because I am frowning all the time All day long I think of things but nothing seems to satisfy Think I'll lose my mind if I don't find something to pacify Can you help me occupy my brain? Oh yeah I need someone to show me the things in life that I can't find I can't see the things that make true happiness, I must be blind Make a joke and I will sigh and you will laugh and I will cry Happiness I cannot feel and love to me is so unreal And so as you hear these words telling you now of my state I tell you to enjoy life I wish I could but it's too late

dead girl walking-reprise from Heathers is reminding me of Eric today. Especially the line when Veronica sings to JD “I wish grownups understood, I wish we met before they convinced you life is war.”

This is a silly one: "Under Presure" by David Bowie and Freddie Mercury.
A duet about 2 guys, under pressure, whining about love. First imagine Dylan as Bowie and Eric as Freddie. The switch it up and picture Freddie's voice coming out of Dylans mouth. And of course they are singing at mics wearing thier trench coats and backward caps.
I am sure the boys would be mortified at this mental picture, but it does give me a laugh.

KMFDM - sycophant, no real meaning in the lyrics that relate to the massacre its just a song that when its played I think of 4/20/99 the album adios was released that day as well maybe that has something to do with it and Eric mentioning the coincidence of it. But sycophant is my favorite song on the adios album and it was released 4/20/99 so it just fits even though it is a slower hypnotic tune, not something most would relate to a massacre,

Also definitely “Torn”by Creed:
Peace is what they tell me Love am I unholy Lies are what they tell me Despise you that control me
The peace is dead in my soul I have blamed the reasons for My intentions poor Yes I'm the one who The only one who Would carry on this far
Torn, I'm filthy Born in my own misery Stole all that you gave me Control you claim you save me
The peace is dead in my soul I have blamed the reasons for My intentions poor Yes I'm the one who The only one who Would carry on this far
Peace in my head Love in my head Lies lies lies lies in my head.
The peace is dead in my soul I have blamed the reasons for My intentions poor Yes I'm the one who The only one who Would carry on this far
The peace is dead in my soul I have blamed the reasons for My intentions poor Yes I'm the one who The only one who Would carry on this far
And although neither boy was religious a few of the lines in “My Own Prison” by Creed are also relatable. Creed was pretty big in the late 90’s, especially on radio. This CD was released in 1997; wonder if either boy heard either song?

They're the only ailment for it. All over again
