The first song I heard on a Columbine tribute was "What's This Life For" by Creed. They played it on the news. Everytime I hear that song, I think about Columbine.

Another song is Blind by Lifehouse, in reference to Susan Klebold and how she must be taking everything.

I watched The Stand recently and the opening sequence used 'Don't Fear the Reaper' by Blue Oyster Cult. It reminded me of Dylan's attitude toward Death.

That is a really good movie, not to mention I think Gary Sinise is an excellent actor. I've tried to get Ivan to watch that movie with me, but he doesn't like it. I read the book years ago, before I was even interested in Columbine. The book was great too, but really long. It took me like 6 weeks to read it but it was worth it. I found out after I got interested in Columbine that Eric enjoyed that movie too.

Dylan  Sad

Remember Everything by Five Finger Death Punch

Oh, dear mother, I love you
I'm sorry, I wasn't good enough
Dear father, forgive me
'Cause in your eyes, I just never added up
In my heart I know I failed you, but you left me here alone

If I could hold back the rain, would you numb the pain?
'Cause I remember everything.
If I could help you forget, would you take my regrets?
'Cause I remember everything.

Oh, dear brother, just don't hate me
For never standing by you or being by your side
Dear sister, please don't blame me
I only did what I thought was truly right
It's a long and lonely road, when you know you walk alone

If I could hold back the rain, would you numb the pain?
'Cause I remember everything.
If I could help you forget, would you take my regrets?
'Cause I remember everything.

I feel like running away
I'm still so far from home
You say that I'll never change
But what the fuck do you know?
I'll burn it all to the ground before I let you in
Please forgive me, I can't forgive you now.
I remember everything.

If I could hold back the rain, would you numb the pain?
'Cause I remember everything.
If I could help you forget, would you take my regrets?
'Cause I remember everything.

It all went by so fast;
I still can't change the past
I always will remember everything
If we could start again,
Would that have changed the end?
We remember everything, everything.

Also, KMFDM - Son Of A Gun reminds me of Columbine, especially Eric.

SHOCKWAVE
MASSIVE ATTACK
ATOMIC BLAST
SON OF A GUN IS BACK

CHAOS-PANIC
NO RESISTANCE
DETONATIONS IN A DISTANCE

APOCALYPSE NOW
WALLS OF FLAME
BILLOWING SMOKE
WHO'S TO BLAME

FORGED FROM STEEL
IRON WILL
SHIT FOR BRAINS
BORN TO KILL

ALL ARE EQUAL
NO DISCRIMINATION
SON OF A GUN
A SIMPLE EQUATION

SON OF A GUN
MASTER OF FATE
BOWS TO NO GOD, KINGDOM OR STATE

WATCH OUT
SON OF A GUN
SUPERHERO #1

It's a bit like The Walking Dead apocalypse 90s style.  It's interesting to think of Eric, who hated tv, engrossed in this made for TV movie.  Parts of it are super cheesy but the opening really sucked me in.  I bet that Eric, if not Dylan, would have really dug TWD.

I listened to My Own Prison non stop for days after 4/20. I couldn't get enough of that cd.

"The earth is such a filthy place. And human; such an awful race.
And I'd rather live in outer space, where death goes at a slower pace.
"

(This IS the same Ministry that some of you may know from [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.].

However, the band has existed since the very early 80s and their entire sound and vibe was completely different then.

All the same, the lyrics in this one sound a lot like their mindsets that we have come to see through the information we have. Especially Eric's, with the "outer space" theme. Then again, Dylan, as well. He didn't call it outer space, but his view of another plane of existence fits into that very well.)

This is pretty good, lyrics-wise, and close to the real motives. I checked and the song was released in 2004. How could the song be so close to Eric's diary since it was released in 2006?

Yeah the title but Eric would have despised that song! lol Weird about the date too. Wow! Eric would have hated 99% of the crap music out there now.

This song really destroyed me when I first became deeply entrenched in this subject in the early-mid 00s.

I'd always known the song and I always loved it. But listening to it after getting into this subject (repeatedly being played on the radio), it just smacked me upside the head like a concrete boulder and I've never heard it the same way since.

Tyler the Creator - Pigs

"Grab a couple friends
Start a couple riots
Crash a couple planes
Gather all the bullies
Crush them motherfuckers"

"Who are you again?
I'm Samuel and that's Tyler
We came to get wild and style in these trench coats!
Don't start asking what's packing in these trench coats
Just know if you start acting I'm grabbing for these trench coats!"

Tyler the Creator wrote 'Pigs' on the 14th anniversary of Columbine.

World Coming Down- Type O Negative

She thinks I'm iron man that I don't feel pain
I don't understand why joy must be feigned
I'm so fortunate yet filled with self hate
That the mirror shows me an ingrate

I could easily start pointing fingers
Since the blame is mine it always lingers
That the truth it lies in my reflection
Though this can't go on there's no question

Yeah I know
That my world is coming down
Yeah I know
I know
I'm the one who brought it down
Brought it down
Bring it on down

How quickly pass the days long is the night
Lying in bed awake bathed in starlight
Better to live as king of beasts
Than as a lamb scared and weak

I will deny my role as a human
Holding myself hostage with no demands
It's better to burn (to burn) quickly and bright
Than slowly and dull (and dull) without a fight

Well I know
That my world is coming down
Now I know
I know
I'm the one that brought it down
Brought it down
Yeah, Bring it on down

Private Hell-Alice in Chains

Give away a love and then remove another too
Painted words adorn the walls, echoing untrue
I feel cold... uh huh, uh huh, uh huh

Promises abound, you rarely find it to begin
Maybe I'm afraid to let you all the way in
I guess so... uh huh, uh huh, uh huh

I excuse myself
I'm used to my little cell
I amuse myself
In my very own private hell

I excuse myself
I'm used to my little cell
I amuse myself
In my very own private hell

Lately I'm beside myself, pretending unconcerned
Standing at a corner where I threw you on a turn
I'll move on... uh huh, uh huh, uh huh

Flowers on a cross remain, marking an ending scene
Damn it all if blood you spill, turn the grass more green
Life is short... uh huh, uh huh, uh huh

I excuse myself
I'm used to my little cell
I amuse myself
In my very own private hell

I excuse myself
I'm used to my little cell
I amuse myself
In my very own private hell

I amuse myself
In my very own private hell

This song reminds me of Eric, and the way he thought of himself leading up to NBK.

Becoming-Pantera

A long time ago I never knew myself.
Then the memory of shame birthed its gift.

No more. The small one, the weak one, the frightened one.
Running from beatings, deflating.
I'm becoming more than a man.
More than you ever were.
Driven and burning to rise beyond Jesus.

I'm born again with snakes eyes
Becoming Godsize

I found my life was slipping through my hands.
Perhaps through death my life won't be so bad.

I can see you, can fuck you, inside of you.
Staring through your eyes.
Belittle your friends to serve me, to suck me,
To realize my saving grasp.
I of suicide.
I the unlord.

I'm born again with snakes eyes
Becoming Godsize

Everyday is Exactly the Same by Nine Inch Nails, remiends me now Eric and Dylan, specially this part:

"Sometimes I think I'm happy here
Sometimes, yet I still pretend
I can't remember how this got started
But I can tell you exactly how it will end"

I listened to Bohemian Rhapsody the other day and it made me think of Eric. "Mama just killed a man. Put a gun against his head. Pulled my trigger now he's dead. Mama life has just begun now I've gone and thrown it all away."

* "Pumped Up Kicks" by Foster the People (duh), the music at least, makes me think of the atmosphere Eric and Dylan lived in during their lifetime in the '90s of Colorado - prior to the massacre. Meanwhile, the whistling makes me think of how excited Dylan particularly acted during the act.

* "I Would Do Anything for You" by Foster the People definatley makes me think of Dylan and his crushes, particularly the line, "And I smile when you speak..."

* "Fallen Angel" by Aimee B. makes me think of Rachel Scott.

* "Light Me Up" by the Pretty Reckless reminds me of Cassie Bernall.
