Beyond the shooters who did use silencers, how would shootings have been different if they had been suppressed?

Students during the jokela shooting heard shots, but couldn’t recognize them, and the second floor of MSD locked down because of hearing shots on the first floor.

I think in the modern age especially in America the whole "we thought it was fireworks" thing doesn't really happen as much so it's weird shooters underutilise suppressors. It'd buy they much more time and cause less panic meaning the victims wouldn't react especially if they used sub-sonic ammo. As far as how shootings would've been different I guess shooters who where more methodical (Breivik, Cho, etc.) would've got much higher kill counts then shooters who just went in blazing (Eric and Dylan for example) It would've been extremely interesting if Paddock took the time to get suppressors for all his guns.

The NFA makes it impossible for shooters to get suppressors

It's a lot easier than you think these days. People are just 3D printing suppressors. It's easy and the printers themselves are getting cheaper. I don't understand the technology that well myself, but from videos I watched on youtube I learned that suppressors that are 3d printed are one of the few things that are better quality 3d printed than buying retail.

There are a lot of ways people buy suppressors also. They are advertised and sold as something else. Like an "oil filter". You just have to know what you're really looking at. Between those 2 methods of acquiring suppressors they are easy to acquire. Especially in Texas.

Several shooters have worn ear protection when they shot a place up. That seems to be most people's solution. I'm assuming they want to lessen the concussive force of a shot going off in an indoor environment. I've never thought about the fact that using one might throw off potential victims at the murder site cuz they won't believe what they're hearing is gun shots. Certainly a scary idea...
