A few thoughts:
This is a very teenage diary. Everything feels massive. Everything feels like the end of the world. Everything is absolute. Nothing will ever change. Anyone who has reached a degree of adulthood and perspective knows that while the feelings are real and so strong at that age, the thoughts that come with them aren’t.
We are definitely looking at some kind of mental illness here. Not that I’m qualified to judge, but writing about how everything hurts on practically every page is evidence of someone really struggling. Obviously the gender issues can make somebody very confused and upset. There’s some evidence that the father relationship could have used some therapy or understanding.
Can you imagine being Paige? Nearly everything was about her. It must be awful to read when at the time you probably didn’t have a clue about all these thoughts.
Personal issue, but the spelling seemed younger than the writer.
I am a bit confused as to what made this go from a suicide to a massacre. Everything I read would lead to someone having a quiet suicide at home, but at some point that changed to a murder suicide. There are a few reasons kind of spoken of like being famous, making the columbine killers proud, because other people’s lives are worthless etc but it’s not clear what exactly made it necessary to kill others first.

I was having a think today and wondered if this shooting was an expression of masculinity in Audrey’s eyes. Like, school shootings are predominantly done by males, so did it make her feel more male, or help the emotional process of feeling in the wrong body? Not that anyone could answer that of course, the journals just gave me some thoughts. I am not sure I would describe that journal as a manifesto in honesty, it’s more like a vomit on the page of all the shit that your brain is trying to make sense of at that age.

None of you know how much this journal pisses me off. I originally didn't mind Hale as a shooter because I thought she was okay, like it wasn't known about her to throw a pissy fit because she got misgendered or something by others, and frankly she's the deadliest female shooter in the country, but God I hate her now. With a burning passion. You know this bitch hated being white so bad and her love for the brown cow named Paige is unsettling. She was so fucking repetitive in the journal by writing the same things as if writing it down again will bring up a new, original and exciting thought to note, but it ended up turning her into a broken record. Obviously she wants to be a man too bad and her sexuality is nauseating, it makes me ashamed to be a human being. I know it's a journal and personal things like it is expected to be written down, but there are just some things you need to keep to yourself, or write down in a separate journal. She acted so miserable in this that it seems fake and like a desperate clawing at a feeling she would have never had the capacity to feel in her life. I actually threw my phone when I read the sentence "I want my massacre to end in a way that Eric and Dylan would be proud of." My 5 year old sister could be exposed to Columbine and brew up a better tasting shit stew than this one in half the time. At this rate I'm fully convinced that this is fake and someone was paid to fabricate it, either that or Audrey Hale was just flat out r3tarded. I hate keeping this thing in my archive and having to scroll past it every time I want to add or read a "piece of work" in my free time.
