Ignoring the generic debate about SSRIs that emerges after every event like this (maybe less so now than in the 2000s), there's some semi-interesting stuff here: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
As an aside, do any archives of threads from either old forum where people covered VT/NIU/Binghamton/Aurora/Omaha/Sandy Hook/etc as they occurred exist? The only one I can think of is a thread about Loughner that was preserved because of a Smiggles post complaining about how Loughner got more attention than Jiverly Wong due to the political nature of the crime.

There are posts of people talking about the Emsdetten shooting on forums on the day of the attack, or in the days following. I also remember seeing posts about the Kauhajoki shooting on a Finnish crime forum the day it happened. I also managed to find some forum posts about the Erfurt shooting the time it happened as well.

Also, if you're interested in the NIU shooting I heavily recommend the book "Last Day on Earth", by David Vann. It goes into Steve's life, with interviews with his girlfriend and people who worked with him at NIU. Here's a condensed article that takes passages from it, but the full book has pretty much everything you'd want to know about the shooting.

Thanks for these, it's somewhat different before vs after social media really became the way it did after ~2014-2016 so it's always interesting to see. I've read the article and Vann's book has been something I've wanted to read for a bit, as Kazmierczak is one of the more enigmatic perpetrators in some ways. (In general, non-ideological*, aberrant adult mass killers are some of the most interesting cases, compared to the legions of high school aged boys who are usually comparable to Harris/Klebold or Kip Kinkel, but Lanza and Rodger seem to be the main ones people outside of here care about.)
*Well, at least not explicitly motivated by neo-Nazi beliefs or Islamism, as I'm including Lepine and Rodger here.
