I've always found it interesting how, in spite of this incident occurring in 1927, it still remains the deadliest "rampage" at any educational institution (elementary school, high school, university, etc.) in known history. I know that dynamite and pyrotol (explosives) were used in this particular attack, as opposed to "firearms" being the main weapon of choice.

This makes me think "had the bombs in Columbine detonated, particularly in the cafeteria, would that incident outrank the Bath School Disaster?"

All information I have taken from this list on Wikipedia: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

I don't know much about bombs or how deadly the bombs at Columbine were
But I can say that if Eric and Dylan had prepared to the extent that Andrew Kehoe did
then the massacre at Columbine definitely had the potential to out do the Bath School Disaster

I've always been interested in this case. Its fascinating because it is solely a bombing.
Perhaps that's why it is still the deadliest rampage at any educational facility

Their propane bombs would have caused a some deaths, but not a lot. Even with a packed cafeteria, their bombs were just standard BBQ size propane tanks that were filled all the way up. This made them safer right form the start, since it took up room for the explosive gas to fill and ignite.

Also, even in a worse case scenario where the tanks were almost empty and the detonation was fully functional, they wound't have enough force to do more that a few casualties worth of damage. The reasons being:

1. Propane tank explosions don't have enough force to do much damage unless their in a very enclosed space. They would have never caused structural failure in any way, due to both the large space of the cafeteria and the fact that the failing windows would have expelled most of the force.

2. The population density inside the cafeteria would have absorbed and slowed any shrapnel. There would have been massive trauma and casualties right next to the tanks, but those initial victims would have been a buffer to protect the other people in that room.

What truly scares me about the mass shooters that we see now is how much some of them research their deed.
