Any thoughts on this? I agree to some extent that when you find a world in a game that you enjoy so much more than you own, you want to shape the world you live in to be more like it. But I think that gaming had more than just the one effect on E&D. I believe it also made violence a much smaller deal to them. By spending hours and hours killing hundreds of people on screens, killing 13 in real life became much less of a deal for them, less of a scary experience. When you play so many violent games, your head becomes filled with violent thoughts. _________________ I had it all and I looked at it and I said 'this is a bigger jail than I just got out of'.

I probably should've posted that last question in the "Thoughts on the Shooting" section...
I do agree that violent movies and games can inspire and feed darker ideas, like the Natural Born Killers and Lost Highway ideas in this case. But then, I've seen every Lynch and Tarantino movie many times, and also killed thousands of people in video games, yet I can clearly differentiate between fantasy and reality. I'm sure they could, too... but they decided to cross that line. I think they may have crossed the line with or without the games. Yeah I totaly agree that they probably would have any way, and that people react differently to violent games, shows, and movies. I think that they probably would have done NBK without the games, it just makes it that bit easier to go through with. You get used to shooting stuff. It gave them experience of guns, violence, and murder. I'm sure other things gave them this experience and knowledge too, but gaming definately helped them come up with ideas and confidence. _________________ I had it all and I looked at it and I said 'this is a bigger jail than I just got out of'.

| Thanks for the list.
Anywhoo, I don't want to derail this thread too much but has anyone looked at the forum archives for the Quake game? I know that someone on the Doom boards mentioned that he remembered Eric's handle, but not form the message boards. It was some other place or chat room. it seems to me that Dylan would have likely posted something somewhere if he was really into Quake.

| Also, according to this posting, Harris used to play in the "RC" Quake clan. I searched the clan site on the way back machine, but i keep getting errors. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]rC - [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] | |

| Ugh, bummer.
I wonder if there are other clans that might have info on the rC clan. I found a guy on Steam who has the clan name of "RC Rebbels". I was thinking he might have some info on Eric Harris, or even he might be the catalyst for Eric's chosen online nickname. | |

| Many of these games were released months or even years after the shooting..... AOE2, Diablo2, CC:tiberian sun are just a few. | |

| Good point. Diablo 2 was June 2000. Quake was def a game that they played though. | |

| The idea of a "wish list" is a good point. What was the original source for the list? | |
