| The police would have entered immediately to neutralise Eric and Dylan, and no one in the library would have died. Rachel and Danny were already dead up until this point though. | |

| They'd have had social media pages. We'd have more, and higher quality, pictures of them and access to the Basement Tapes. | |

| Columbines happen all the time, just not as elaborately planned as the original one. For some reason, probably the mass media coverage, columbine sticks out above all school and mass shootings and its still pretty traumatizing to even think about all these years later.
My only solace in discussing this is that today the police procedures have changed to have them go after and stop the suspects as soon as possible rather then creating a perimeter and waiting forever to go after them.

You're partly correct. School shootings are unfortunately a common occurrence these days, some (Virginia Tech, Sandy Hook) had higher body counts. The thing that makes Columbine so unique is how much info and personal statements we have from E and D. They embody the awkwardness and angst most people feel during their teenage years. Ultimately they just wanted recognition from their peers and to feel wanted by girls. At one point they even had hopes and dreams for the future. What separates E and D from the other 99% of the world is how they handled their issues. Most people tough it out through highschool and find some way to deal with their problems. E and D chose to take bombs and guns to their school, just weeks before graduating mind you, and dished out their own twisted form of justice. Humans are inherently violent creatures, but we are capable of repressing those feelings. E and D both mystify and frighten the general public because its easy to understand why they went through with the attack, yet feel complete disgust at the things they did. The whole ordeal forces people to face and accept the natural demons and silent urges hidden deep inside themselves.
