Why is April so common?

It seems to me like a whole lot of school shootings and related incidents happen in April. Columbine, Virginia Tech, the John Mcdonogh High shooting, the Oikos University shooting, etc etc. It seems that shootings and murders in the month of April are becoming more and more common. The first known school shooting happened on April 9th and Columbine was a big influence on April 20th. But surely that couldn't increase the amount of April incidents? I'm not the only one who's noticed this, there are a bunch of articles about how April 'inspires violence.' There's more I could say but i'll leave it up to your opinions as to why April is such a popular month for committing crimes.

I've read in several different places that April 19th - May 1st has significance with the occult as the time of "blood sacrifice". Apparently terrible things have been happening between those dates for centuries. I haven't really dug that deep into it though.

I think it's because a lot of tragedies have happened in April, and a lot of these attacks are inspired by those same events.

While it could be coincidence, I think there is perhaps a real reason that we just haven't understood or articulated yet. I feel maybe it could be that the month, at least in some areas of the US, where the long, long, cold Winter that many of us have had to deal with is just ending and perhaps being driven a little crazy from the cabin fever that many of us have to deal with, just seems to explode at the very end of winter which often doesn't come until April. That phase, "April come in like a lion, and out like a lamb," could be very apropos indeed!

Those are all good points. It seems that a lot of school shooters or general criminals have birthdays in April also. Timothy McVeigh, Adam Lanza, Eric Harris, etc... there was a school stabbing on April 9th a couple of years ago that was influenced by Eric's birthday.

I've read something, but it was related to suicides. They claimed, that suicides are often committed in spring. It's because people feel even more isolated, when others are happy about the warm weather for example. Maybe because it makes you even more depressed. I suffer from depressions and I feel more depressed in winter. Spring makes me feel a little better with the sunlight and everything. But I can also relate to the feeling of being left out. I don't know. Maybe it just shows people there is no hope, while others looking forward to good things in summer?!

idk but my birthday is april 20 and i always feel awkward all month like i shouldn't be celebrating...especially on my actual birthday...since it's 4/20 (BLAZEEEEE ITTTTT)

also the Titanic sank in April

and Tax Day is April 15 in the US...that kinda sucks too

I'm kinda proud that April's known historically to be a month of disasters; alongside being an April baby myself.

Coincidence maybe. Inspiration. Who knows?!

I would guess that:

1. A lot of killers like to pick dates on or around other killings
2. Lots of killers have social problems, and after a cold winter, everyone is out and about being social around town except for them

April is a month which marks the reawakening of nature, and of course of some primal human/animal instincts (testosterone production also rises its levels from Spring to the end of Summer). It's also a time of the year when people usually are less lethargic, and if you're been bullied you might become more aware and sensible to pranks played in broad daylight, outside your school or the indoors you're familiar with, when everybody's watching but nobody's doing anything to help.

Late, but some people who do copycat Columbine shootings most likely just choose April because Columbine happened in April.

from my experience everyone always gets really depressed around April time, i dont know why that is. Or depression magnifies around that month.
