| Aside from the one picture of gunsmoke coming out of the library is there any videos of the killers shooting at the cops a few minutes before they killed themselves? Maybe helicopter footage or something of the sort. Also documentarys like Zero Hour depict the cops shooting heavy amounts of bullets back at them into the library windows. As far as I know the cops didn't shoot to much at them aside from Neil. Is this true? | |

| Wow from the Randy Brown video he said most officers were shooting at shadows, after E and D were already dead, thanks for the info. | |

Is there evidence that E&D were at this location to engage the police? If not the question hopefully raised was why were LE shooting at that location?

It's quite possible given those specific locations are within fairly close proximity to the library. Eric and Dylan also wandered around the school for about 10 to 20 minutes before their eventual suicide, they could have engaged police around this time too. |

Is there evidence that E&D were at this location to engage the police? If not the question hopefully raised was why were LE shooting at that location? Bloodworth – He fired when he saw a gun sticking out of the West Entrance Door. Later, he fired again when there was shooting out of Library windows during the ambulance rescue. Drajem – He fired when shots were being fired from the Library windows. Gardner – He fired when he first encountered suspect outside the West Entrance Doors. Later, he fired again when suspect reappeared behind the West Entrance Doors. Gray – Cover fire at the West Entrance Doors as Richard Castaldo and Rachel Scott were pulled away from the area. Kraemer – He fired only breaching rounds on 2 doors inside the school. Manwaring – He fired when he thought he saw a silhouette of an aggressor behind the West Entrance doors during the rescue of Richard Castaldo. Moneghan – Cover fire at Cafeteria wall below the Library during check of Danny Rohrbough. O’Neill – He fired when he saw a gun sticking out of the West Entrance Door. O’Shea – He exchanged gunfire with the suspects who were firing from the Library windows. Provided cover fire as Richard Castaldo and Rachel Scott were pulled away from the area. During rescue of Richard Castaldo, as he passed the North Library Emergency Exit door, one of the suspects threw an improvised explosive and Sgt. O'Shea fired his weapon. A suspect discharged at least 3 rounds in the direction of the SWAT officers. He said that he could see muzzle flash coming from the suspect, but could not see the shooter. He believes that he did not hit any suspect with his rounds. Romero – While in the parking lot, near a Jeffco patrol car, Romero observed a student lying on the ground near a set of two windows. Romero described the area to be west of the library and cafeteria. Romero approached the student, who he observed to be injured, and began to pull the student away from the building. As he did so, Romero stated that some windows blew out around him. Romero grabbed the student with his left hand, began dragging the student away from the school, and fired four rounds into the lower half of one of the smaller windows in front of him. Romero did not believe that he engaged a suspect. Within seconds of firing his rounds, Romero observed a suspect to the right of his location. He did not engage the suspect upon seeing them. Smoker – He saw a person standing behind a West Entrance door window with a rifle sticking out and firing rounds. He and Gardner fired towards him and the suspect disappeared back into the building. Walker – He fired towards the muzzle flashes seen from inside the Library windows during the ambulance rescue.

| I am not questioning LEO however with the "fog of war" and shooting at muzzle flashes and shadows it doesn't seem to confirm the suspects were in that location at least not for long. I have no doubts that E&D engaged LE and vice versa. | |

They could have increased the casualties if they wanted but didn't. It is of my opinion at that point the realization of their actions was starting to sink in. They could have gone out in a blaze of glory if you will by direct confrontation with the police. Which also makes me believe their [E&D] ire was never at the police. They spent very little time or effort really trying to kill LE. So is it possible they could have engaged LE? Sure and it is also possible that LE was pursuing shadows just do the fact that a major incident occurred. Heightened senses, itchy trigger fingers, stresses of combat.

| Well, Eric/Dylan did engage with the police on at least 4 occasions:
1 - exchange with Gardner outside the West Entrance doors
2 - exchange with Gardner/Smoker from behind a West Entrance door
3 - firing from Library during the Library massacre
4 - exchange from Library with SWAT and others during ambulance rescue

| Yes I am aware of a couple skirmishes they had with LE but 141 rounds is a lot from LE to discharge. 12 officers with at least 10 rounds each discharged. But specifically I was curious to how many times if at all E & D returned to the W Entrance aside from initial incursion. | |

| Well, if you look at the numbers I posted above, you will notice that 3 officers fired a total of 106 rounds, leaving only 31 shots for the remaining 8 officers (not including the 1 officer who fired 4 breaching rounds) = only 137 actual shots fired by LE during the incident.
Most shots were fired as cover/suppression fire and during the shootout during the ambulance rescue.
In answer to your question above, Eric/Dylan returned to the West Entrance doors at least once, possibly twice, after the initial shootout with Garnder outside.

The original post to how many by each officer did not address the direction they were fired in. If they returned once to the W Entrance and the majority of shots were suppressing fire for the ambulance then it is safe to say there was no real gun fights with LE. Just trying to get an idea of what transpired during the unfortunate series of events. Only curious to improve my erudition of the content.

| [1] Gunshots were exchanged by Eric/Dylan and by Neil Gardner just outside the West Entrance doors
[2] Gunshots were exchanged by Eric/Dylan from behind the West Entrance doors and by Gardner & Smoker.
[3] Gunshots were fired by Eric/Dylan from the Library during the Library massacre
[4] Gunshots were exchanged by Eric/Dylan from the Library windows and by SWAT during the ambulance rescue.
[5] If you believe O'Shea, gunshots were exchanged by him and Eric/Dylan by the North Library Emergency Exit door during the rescue of Richard Castaldo.
