I genuinely felt sorry for this guy. Plus his step mother is hiding something I think she was quite cruel too him.

I'm sure his stepmother didn't treat him well. He was definitely intelligent and could have had a better life. But no one put enough effort into helping Robert, I feel like people scarcely cared about this guy.

I feel sorry for him too, I completely understand what he went through in his final period of his life. He lost literally everything he worked for: no job, no girlfriend, no qualification, no family members to rely on. At that point he must have been convinced he had no chance of living a successful life his environment would be proud of. He probably saw taking his revenge on society in the form of carrying out a mass murder as the only way to stand out from the average.

I think something was so broken in Robbie that he never really stood a chance. After all, the kid was put into a psychiatric hospital at the young age of FOUR for violent tendencies. And then again 10 years later, he spent YEARS in a psychitatric hospital, and yet he was still very violent and threatning.
I personally wouldn't heap all the blame on the stepmom, however. Stepfamilies are such and awkward arrangement to begin with! Here this woman is trying to raise 4 kids - some hers, some not, while one of these kids is literally threatning her life. She probably worried about the safety of the other kids too. And, of course, Robbie would have the usual resentments against a step-parent - but with his psychiatric issues it went too far into violent threats. Teenagers are difficult enough under good circumstances. And where was his biological mom?
I certainly do feel bad Robbie, that he had such a psychiatric condition to begin with, which maybe never gave him a chance at normal life. And of course, his disapointments and sadness at the end, that made him feel his life was not worth living. Of course, it does not excuse what he did - but psychiatrically, I am not sure he ever stood a chance. It's a sad situation all around.

An interesting article on the subject from the aunt's point of view. You raise good points about the family, as it is a difficult situation and we do not know their life in whole.

Poor guy. Tossed aside like trash for most of his life, no wonder he ran amok. He comfortably slots in the Salvador Ramos', Niko Cruzes, Bill Atchisons, and Jeff Weises of the world.

I think he would have committed a shooting at a later date if he had not done so in 2007, the same thing goes for Nikolas Cruz.

It's what I've always said: The solution to all these problems is non-humanism and the possibility of unrestricted euthanasia, relying only on the person's approval.
