I think that guy was banned off the incel forums he frequented.
I mentioned it in the other thread briefly, but if you want to see what your typical incel looks and acts like, look no further than Marijan Siklic. His behavior includes threatening to kill a girl who refused his advances, begging his mother for sexual favors, and coercing a mentally ill woman into having sex with him. Incels are crazy.

Have there ever been any attempts to shut this forum down by law enforcement or any other entities? I wasn't here when Sandy Hook happened, but I imagine there were some attempts then. Sometimes I get scared for this websites future.
Of course its pretty easy to create a new website, but to lose all the posts and discussions that have been made here throughout the years would be depressing.
The legal grounds are essential. No judge is going to permit this site to be seized if it's a blatant violation of the First Amendment. The only First Amendment case I can imagine would involve incitement, which would basically necessitate that someone here be immediately encouraging violence that's likely to actually happen. Based on the rules and moderation of this forum, that situation won't ever come to pass.
On the civil front, it would probably be extremely difficult for someone to sue this site because it's a platform for user-generated content, not a publisher.
If any of that actually ever comes up an organization like the ACLU would likely be happy to take the case.

This specific topic is about people who were members of this forum and chose to commit murder. I think many others who felt that desire were probably dissuaded by what they found in this forum. I definitely believe this community has prevented more violence than anyone can argue it encouraged.
In the end violence is pointless and accomplishes nothing. That's what I've come away with reading posts here and I think most users come away with the same thought.

Just got the news here in Australia, when will this kind of thing end?
Too many people on this forum are doing thing like this, I think there needs to be a "Other things to do that aren't shooting up schools" subforum to drag kids like this away from doing things like this, sad!

Some school shooters do it for attention, they think it will make them famous, that people will remember them. But what they fail to realise is that their legacy will be buried under hundreds of other different school shooters who are also seeking attention.

I agree with you on that. With the number of school shootings popping up at a somewhat fast pace, the only way any particular incident will stick out is if the death toll is fairly high.
Even then the media will run a few stories on it, and then the interest and coverage is over. Very sad to think about, but school shootings have become a common thing and no one really bats an eye over it anymore.

I'm glad you put the "some" in there. Perhaps these shooters may not directly inspire the ones who want to go on these sprees but it wouldn't be all that surprising if they knew about the notable events.

That's quite interesting, what's with the bandwagon that people who come on this forum commit a murder-suicide. It started with Adam, Randy Stair and now this guy. I wonder which user on here is going to commit the next mass shooting. Also, something that I noticed, is it a coincidence that Adam Lanza and Randy Stair look almost identical.

It seems that when some of them have severe mental problems they stop caring for themselves and lose a lot of weight. Adam, Randy and Dylan lost lots of weight leading up to their shootings - plus all of them grew their hair kind of long (why get your haircut if you're going to die soon anyway, right?) I think the only reason why Dylan looks a little different is because he looked more mature than Adam and Randy despite being the youngest.

I'm not sure what these guys are going for - is it a weird homage to Columbine or are they truly that delusional to believe that they'll get any lasting post mortal fame? Although, we're living in times when people are willing to degrade themselves in any conceivable way to get their fifteen minutes of fame, even if it's literally 15 minutes. Talking about Stair and Atchison too much just encourages similar losers to go on a similar shooting spree - from their point of view - at least a handful of people will discuss them and try to figure them out after they die.

Truly shocking, I remember the post where he stated that he believed that some people who frequent these forums would go on become the future mass murderers. I didn't know at the time he could be referring to himself. For all the disdain and ridicule forum members directed towards Randy Stair in the aftermath, it wasn't enough to thwart someone who had become committed to the act of mass murder/suicide. That is a depressing thought.
He was being honest, the reality is that these forums or channels dedicated to mass murder events do attract the unwanted attention of potential criminals. Whether the forum content ultimately influences their desires/plans is debatable, however. I think it's unlikely that someone who isn't otherwise homicidal/suicidal and frequents these forums will then go on to become so and in that sense these types of forums or other internet platforms are benign. However, I do feel that potential murders and such will come because they want to turn their fantasies into achievable realities, by copying behaviours of other mass murderers. Afterall, if they could do it, so could I.
I notice several forum members with images of guns, real/pseudo gun-violence, death, blood or gore. That in itself isn't remarkable given the nature of this forum, but I believe that at least some mass have outed themselves in some way prior to committing their crimes with any red flags only being appreciated in hindsight. I don't know of any infamous mass murderer/school shooter who didn't have an interest-bordering-on obsession in guns or knives (at least those carried out in the US), I see that as being a trend that in any other country would count as a red flag.
Is there a way of politely raising suspicion about somebody on the internet? for example I notice there's always a few you tubers who comment on channels dedicated to the Columbine Massacre who's comments are odd, one in particular has playlists/uploads titled 'suicide', videos about guns (toy or real) joking about who's going to die, predicting that there will be more school shooters in 2018 and has a video showing a toy doll with blood and titles his video "I wish my toys were real". Where do you draw the line between what's a real threat and not? I don't want to bother people especially if they're innocent but if Randy Stair is anything to go by it seems nobody else is going to question these people if you don't.

Is there anything we can do to stop this from happening again? Like is there a way for forum members to report suspicious posts or members without just getting them banned? Because just banning people doesn't prevent shootings. Just curious

I seem to remember raising concerns in the past with the admin about some users posts. I think they probably pick most of the obvious stuff up themselves but i’d say there was no harm in just raising it if you were worried. I’m not sure what they do once someone is acting suspiciously - i’d guess use their ip address and report it to the police.

If there's another killer in our midst then he's probably going to keep it a secret. It's not exactly something you blurt out to people.

Sure they probably wouldn't tell others of their ideas/plans, but big secrets like that are hard to keep and they have a tendency to come out in subtle ways. The type of sensationalist killer that these events breed isn't content enough with keeping quiet and carrying out their deed, they crave attention, threaten others, have an obsession with death/violence/guns/knives, etc. a long time before they act. Sure, not all will fit the mould, there may even be past members of the forum that have murdered nobody knows about.
For me it's no good anymore to just say these things happen and turn a blind eye, in hindsight there have been signs for at least some. I just don't know how to go about reporting things you see on the internet, youtube, Facebook and the other big tech companies haven't made it clear, there needs to be more awareness about these things.

Agree. All YouTube (not sure about other social media) does when they receive a report for threats is just to ban the account. Which in my opinion doesn't really do anything. Since people actually read the comments that get reported I feel they should pay some attention to ones that do seem concerning, rather than just ban.

I've come across some really alarming material on Youtube, but it seems that their responsibility ends at censorship. Removing content and banning users doesn't solve anything, if anything it's going to piss some people off even more. I can understand if it's terrorist-related as the videos often try to inspire or recruit others, but for people who seem mentally disturbed that may end up harming themselves or others I think it's better not to remove the content or ban them because it's vital information. For that reason, I've forgone reporting/flagging content/users and there doesn't seem to be an option to report them to a mental health body and/or police if they're a danger.

For that reason, I've forgone reporting/flagging content/users and there doesn't seem to be an option to report them to a mental health body and/or police if they're a danger.
all vance ever did was shitpost.

For me it's no good anymore to just say these things happen and turn a blind eye, in hindsight there have been signs for at least some. Same here, I dont report comments anymore. But its also so damn hard to tell if someone's serious or not, as its become popular to make disturbing jokes and comments. I feel if the option of reporting a comment to the police became a well known thing, people would abuse the system. Sort of like that swatting thing that happened to a lot of streamers. Then again, we could avoid future problems if there was some way. Its so hard to try and help when it comes to the internet (especially on social media).

Gee Ivan, that really narrows it down. Can you be a little more specific? Like give me his actual birth-date so I can put it on his profiles like I did with Randy's profile?
Kinda old but apparently he was born on March 17 or 18 1996. His name was also apparently William Emsgtret Atchison.

I have not read all the comments in this post so sorry if I repeat anything,,but oh my god another member of this forum ..ugh oh my god This makes me so sad and upset. 1: How come I did not hear about this on the news? Do "small shootings" not get air time? 2: Honestly I feel bad because I knew him through this forum (not personally, I did not message him or anything) but like I still "knew him" and I had no idea. I do not think I saw any red flags or maybe I did and just did not realize.. And I know it was not my fault (at all, it was his choice to do this) but I feel responsible in a way. If I could have done something and helped him (if he needed it) or something. Something to prevent it. I also feel stupid that I did not see it. 3: The fact that he was one year younger than me just does something to me (not sure what) but ugh it just makes me even more upset about it all. 4: With all these fing (I do not remember if we can swear on this forum or not...) shootings I cannot help but to feel unsafe. And as a college student and just a human being in general ..this makes me a bit afraid to go outside and yes I know the news is bias etc and that I cannot live my life being scared..but still . (this are just my thoughts..hope these do not upset anyone (I have bad anxiety and I am always worried about people getting upset with me ((I know I know I am working on it) and I really like this forum ((I know I have been MIA life just got too much and I needed a break from everything ) so I do not want to get deleted.

I saw it on MSNBC the next morning. The smaller shootings get some air time, but not too much.
