Question about Eric in suicide picture

Jenn sent me the restored suicide pictures the other day and I saw somethings that I hope someone can help me understand. The first, what is the black in front of his face? I know the dark, black looking circle around his head is blood however it looks like something black is in front of his face. The second, did one of Eric's eyes come out of his skull from the shot gun blast? There appears to be a white object lying right in front of his face in the picture...curious to know if it's an eye ball or just something else?

His eyes were both in his head at his autopsy

His head basically blew out so if I am looking at what I think you are looking at I think it might be a part of his forehead

Likely that or maybe even a scull fragment.
