AUM Failed Attacks

Im sure many of you know about the cult AUM Shinrikyo, famous for the Tokyo Sarin Attack of 1995, Thought it is quite unknown that they had attempted many large scale attacks that fortunately failed and here i will list them:

1990- AUM members in three custom spray trucks loaded with Botulism toxin drove past and sprayed 2 US Army naval bases, Narita Airport, the japanese diet, the imperial palace and the HQ of a rival religious group. Luckily the Botulism was a ineffective strain and failed to harm.

1993 - AUM members in a car fitted with a spray device loaded with again ineffective botulism sprayed the wedding guests of Prince Naruhito in Tokyo, no one was injured.

1993- AUM members spray a inert strain of Anthrax from the roof AC fans of their Tokyo HQ building in Koto Ward, Kameido. No one was Injured.

1993- AUM members attempt to murder the leader of a rival religion using Sarin on two occasions. The first included the Use of a Radio controlled helicopter equipped with a spray device, It failed when the device caught fire and the perpetrators were scared off. The second attempt involved a vehicle equipped with a spray device, again the device caught fire and failed.

1994- AUM members attempt to murder a rival attorney by releasing sarin into his cars ventilator and on to its windshield, The attorney is poisoned but survives.

1994- AUM members Pump Phosgene gas through the mailbox of a journalist's apartment door whilst she is sleeping, The reporter is seriously injured but survives.

1994- AUM members attempt to murder a AUM dissident by spraying him with VX twice in Nakano Ward, Tokyo, The man is seriously injured but survives.

1995- AUM members spray the leader of a victims charity with VX in front of his home. The man is critically injured but survives.

1995- AUM members attempt to murder the leader of a rival religious group by injecting VX into his car ventilators, the attack fails and no one is injured.

1995- AUM members carrying 3 briefcases equipped with fans and Botulism toxin attempt to release botulism by leaving the briefcases at the ticket barriers of a Tokyo subway station, the attack fails when an AUM dissident replaces the toxin with water. no one is injured,

1995- AUM members leave a Hydrogen cyanide gas producing device in the restroom of a Tokyo subway station, the device caught fire and was disabled by subway workers, 4 subway workers were injured from throat problems but survived.

1999- AUM members in Russia lead by cell leader Dmitry Sigachev plan a number of terror attacks in Japan in attempt to manipulate the japanese government into freeing Shoko Asahara who would be rescued and taken to a hidden location in Russia via boat. The Plan consisted of bombing and Attacking a Tokyo Nursery, a gas cylinder plant, a hotel, 2 department stores, a major highway intersection, a Park, a Subway station and a 15 floor tourism and trade center in another city using TNT, AK Rifles and TT Pistols. The cell smuggled the weapons in punch bags into japan and were ready to initiate the attacks but at the last minute aborted and fled back to Russia where they were arrested and put on trial.

These failed attacks show us how cunning and malevolent AUM Shinrikyo was and how they could of caused great destruction on many occasions but by miracle most of these attacks luckily failed, saving the lives of many.
