Mass Shooting in California #2.

I've locked the first thread about this shooting and any new posts/discussions pertaining to this shooting can be posted in this new thread.

The other thread really went off topic. It was annoying.

I do not know if this was posted in the other thread, but I will post it here. The manner of death for the shooter has been determined. According to this article, he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The manner of death is thus suicide.

This shooting was pretty much forgotten about in 1-2 days. By comparison, Mark Barton killed the same amount, injured a similar amount, and his shooting got on the cover of TIME magazine. Boy have things changed.

Of course, the fire nearby played a major factor in why it was forgotten about quickly.

It's happening too often to be of any notice anymore. I was shocked that I didn't hear of a mass killing on Black Friday in all honesty. I would not be surprised if we fail to finish the year without another mass shooting that claims a double-digit number of lives.

People are ravenous on Black Friday. Its likely a mass shooter would be beat to death with a cheap toaster.

I'm surprised this was forgotten so quickly, especially with the celebrity angle. Why do you think some shootings capture the public attention more? On the plus side, I guess the less attention mass shootings get, the less fame mass shooters get and that can only be a good thing.

I haven't really kept track on this shooting but last I heard that the officer was the first one there and got shot by the shooter but did something come out to confirm otherwise?

He was struck 5 times from David Long shooting at him, yet the 6th bullet that hit him was shot from a California Highway Patrol officer, which was the bullet that killed him.
