Much like Kimveer Gill, I'm curious as to why he only killed 1 person out of the many people he shot at. Was he using birdshot?

Most likely. There's a picture of a car he shot at and it seems to be birdshot.

It was actually England's third modern spree killing. You forgot about the West Midlands shootings by Barry Williams in 1978.
