| As someone who grew up in the UK in the 80s and 90s I find this very worrying. I am far more scared of the IRA than ISIS. I just hope that since 9/11, people of the USA won't be so inclined to fund or arm them and that means that don't have the resources to carry out as many attacks.
This was however completely predictable, making DUP kingmakers has thrown off the balance of power in NI and the prospect of No Deal Brexit makes the resurgence of the Troubles almost certain.

| This car bombing is stupid, bombing some pavement outside a courthouse in the more nationalist part of the city just really proves how dumb these dissident republicans are. - Pixie13 wrote:

They wouldn't be getting any since even despite Brexit, the conditions now aren't the same that originally led to the Troubles. Plus this is an unpopular splinter group who oppose the Good Friday Agreement with hardly the fraction of the numbers that the PIRA had in it's hayday and many former members of the PIRA are against these groups. They don't even have a "sympathetic cause" facade that the PIRA had in order to obtain funding from the USA, other countries and groups. People need to stop acting like this is the exact same IRA from the 70's, the Real, New or whatever the hell they call themselves IRA are minority group that stole some fertilizer and arms dumps because they didn't like the GFA, they speak for no-one.

| Gaddafi got a bayonet shoved up his ass (courtesy of USA) so there's no way that they'll be able to go and get the same level and quality of firearms and support that they had previously. |

I also doubt that there's anybody in the New IRA with that level of contacts at all.

I think more than any organized group, the worst to fear is the prospect of a lone wolf attacker or small group of people launching an attack, in the style of homegrown ISIS terrorists. _________________ "My guns are the only things that haven't stabbed me in the back." -Kip Kinkel
