| Just something I thought about the other day. Did eric and dylan modify their shotguns themselves? I highly doubt they bought them like that at the gun show since they are illegal. But wondering if a friend helped them or if they both just chopped them up themselves. | |

| "After illegally acquiring the shotguns through their straw purchaser, Robyn Anderson, Dylan Klebold sawed off his Savage 311-D 12-gauge double-barrel shotgun, shortening the overall length to approximately 23 inches (0.58 m), a felony under the National Firearms Act, while Harris sawed off the Savage-Springfield 12-gauge pump shotgun he used in the mass murder to around 26 inches (0.66 m)." | |

I think Eric and Dylan did it on their owns. Neighbors reported hearing breaking glass and saws at the Harris home IIRC but I don’t remember if that was just the Sunday before or at other times. Dylan had spent all of Sunday with Eric according to Sue. They were at the very least sawed down by the time they went to Rampart Range. _________________ "And you know, you know, you know, this can be beautiful, you say you're numb inside, but I can't agree. | This is from the sticky thread "Highlights of the 11k" posted by Lizpuff. (Thank goodness for that thread! So informative!)
"Robyn Anderson's testimony on the gun purchases: 8201-8300 Page 16:
3) Anderson stated that Klebold and Harris had been searching the gun show for private dealers so that they would not have to complete any paperwork. According to Anderson, after entering the gun show, Klebold and Harris went directly to a private dealer. The dealer asked Klebold and Harris if they had brought someone 18 years old this time. Klebold and Harris stated that they had. Anderson states that she showed her drivers license to this individual and after reviewing it, handed it back. According to Anderson, Harris and Klebold asked the individual if he has anything shorter than the shotgun they were looking at and the individual tells them that they can cut down the barrel. Anderson explained to S/A Motte that the gun was long and the individual was saying they could cut it down to the first barrel ring. As if to cut it down to the shortest length of not less than 18 inches. Anderson stated that the price of the shotgun was over $100.00 but less than $300.00. Anderson stated that Klebold paid for this shotgun from money that he had in his wallet and that this shotgun was for Klebold himself."

| You see, I read this and Robyn knew they wanted to saw off the shotguns making them illegal. So I’m and I can believe that she would’ve believed that they wanted it for target practice or that Dylan wanted to protect his cats from the coyotes. However, anyone who says that Robyn did not have a crush on Dylan is oblivious. Because you have to have some sort of feelings for someone and at that age really want them to like you to do something like this.
It just surprises me that nothing set off a red flag to Robyn or Mark Manes But as Nate said none of the adults were worried so why should he have been?
He seems more worried that Dylan was buying drugs from Mark

| I did watch Rampart Range again last week and there are a few times after they shoot them that they complain the kickback hurt and that they needed to sand them down more, just cutting the barrel is extremely dangerous if you don't clean up the cuts, the bullet could basically explode the barrel if there were some rough spots left.
That's why I wondered if someone helped them.
And yea Screamingophelia, it is suspicious that robyn knew they wanted to cut them down and didn't think/say anything about it. They all were so young though and it was the 90's. Kids are kids, its only in retrospect where it doesn't make sense

Kids are kids, its only in retrospect where it doesn't make sense Dylan’s hand bled I know and he said his wrist hurt like a “ son of a bitch”” Hence why they wore gloves. I wonder if maybe Robyn knew about guns and maybe she had friends who sawed them down and just thought they were having fun... I don’t know, hindsight is 20/20 but something doesn’t sit right _________________ "And you know, you know, you know, this can be beautiful, you say you're numb inside, but I can't agree. | Robyn may not have known WHY they would saw off the shotguns. Maybe they told her that it's cooler looking, or it's for a movie, or it shoots better. Personally, I never knew, until someone pointed it out, that sawed off shotguns are easier to conceal. As someone who does not walk around with concealed shotguns, it just never occured to me, and may not have occured to her either.
And I have no doubt that Robyn had a crush on Dylan. And that he used her, and left her holding the bag.

| There was something somewhere- it may have been in the Basement Tapes transcript- that Dylan ideas saying that he walked past his mother with the sawed off shotgun hidden under his trench coat and she didn’t notice. It was like he got glee out of it. | |

You’re right I think Eric writes in his journal that he had a gun or something on him while talking to Dylan’s dad. _________________ "And you know, you know, you know, this can be beautiful, you say you're numb inside, but I can't agree. | Harris mentions having the stock of "Arlene" hanging out of his duffel bag and sneaked it past whilst his parents thought it was nothing more than a BB gun. _________________

| They sawed them off themselves. The barrel Eric sawed off was found on top of his desk or shelf by police. Just got a hacksaw on the bedroom floor, I imagine.
Kate Battan says the breaking glass is a myth (oddly).
Dylan didn't say he walked past his mother, he said his parents opened his door while he was looking in the mirror to see if it was hidden, and they didn't notice.
And Eric talks about clips/magazines in his pockets, not a gun (that wouldn't fit in the pockets, of course)
