Which cases have sucked you in like the Columbine case?

There are too many, just to name a few: Erzsébet Báthory (aka 'The Blood Countess'), Jack the Ripper, the Zodiac killer, the Manson Family and the Alcàsser girls, this one is probably the most famous crime in my country due to its nature and all the bizarre theories and mysteries that still remain.

In general, I think that I tend to be attracted to cases that haven't been totally solved. It's the mystery factor, I guess.

The Christchurch Mosque Shootings and the Sandy Hook elementary school shooting. For the First,its because the demeanor of Tarrant while he commited his attack. About the Newtown-Shooting,its because there is no Motive behind this and the relationship between Lanza and his mother.

Sandy Hook and the Weis Markets shooting, both of which due to the internet trail that the perpetrators left behind.

Columbine never really interested me all too much, at least not as much as I assumed it would have.

A few cases have definitely sucked me in.

- The Murder of Kirsten Costas by Bernadette Protti
- Helen Moore who suffocated 5 infants (2 survived but one was left blind and unable to walk). She also murdered her own brother. She was 17 and originally the crimes were blamed on Sudden Crib Death (SIDS).
- The Richardson Family Murders. JR, who was 12 at the time, planned the murders of her father, mother, and 8-year-old brother with her boyfriend, Jeremy Steinke who was 23 at the time. The first murder case I've ever read (oddly, at 12 years old).
- The Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka case. I'm more interested in Karla's involvement though.
- The Kelly Silk case.

I would say that the Kirsten Costas case and the Richardson Family Murders have pulled me in the most though.

The Manson Family murders as well .  Also, the Oklahoma City Bombing, Waco Siege, Ruby Ridge, and the Sandy Hook Shooting. I also like to read about hate crimes involving & surrounding the "Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act," but there's not so much information that can be divulged anymore.

I was much more sucked into the West Memphis 3 because first and fore-most; the tragic slaying and mutilation of 3,8-year-old children; but that wasn't the end of the tragedy, they then convicted 3 teenage boys of the murder based on Satanic Panic, Metallica, and Wicca; 2 of the 3 would get a life, 1 would get the death penalty; and then after years of being beaten and raped in prison because people believed they were pedo's and child killers, and nearly executing an innocent man; DNA proved that none of them were guilty of it; and they were released but under a gag "Alford plea" by the Arkansas court system which made them sign documents stating that they were guilty so that the lazy legal system there wouldn't have to go out and find the actual killer. Quite disgusting, 3 children murder, the lives of 6 children ruined, and no justice for anyone.

Suzano's case has been attracting my attention lately despite the fact that I hardly find information about him, although I think it is an interesting case to analyze.

Jokela and Virginia tech also caught my attention, as well as the Oklahoma City bombing and the utoya massacre, I remember reading for months only on the 2 topics, to the point where I had already seen all the possible documentaries about breivik and mcveigh

The 2011 Norway attacks (Breivik) and all the stuff that happened in the blackmetal scene in Norway in the early 90's. Murders, suicides, church burnings etc.

The Jokela shooting and the Emsdetten shooting. Also for a time VTech and Jeffrey Dahmer.

Red Lake and Munich.

I found the 2017 Delphi double murder case to be pretty interesting. No so much because of the motives of the killer (apparently a sexual motivated murder of young girls), but because of the circumstances.

A guy attacks two teens in broad daylight on a well known and frequented hiking trail (on a day off from school). One of the girls managed to record both video and audio of the killer and the police have recovered and shared this footage with the public.

Despite this, 4 years later the perp is still nowhere to be found.

It is one of the rare cases where I'm not so much interested in the psychology of the perp, just in the actual investigation steps.

Definitely the Dawson College shooting - though information is a bit limited (I'd love to know more about Kimveer's friendship w/ Rajan). Along with that, Kauhajoki & Jokela (Kauhajoki I find more interesting as there are a lot of questions I have that will probably never get answered...). Jokela has stuck with me for almost three years now though, so it's the longest standing case I've ever been so into.

Cases like the Emma Walker case along with the Scream Murder case have drawn me in besides Columbine.

Definitely Joseph James DeAngelo(it's so amazing he's caught and we can find out his motives and such) or the Aztec Highschool shooting(the amount of stuff William left behind is staggering).

Saugus for some reason.

1938 - Mutsuo Toi
A very early, but deadly attack, and interesting in both his life history and his actions. The ability to delve further and further into the Japanese-speaking internet and come up with scraps of information is interesting.
1997 - Kip Kinkel
Oddly young, expecially for his familicide, interesting psychology and personal history, and survived the attack to tell of it. I feel bad for him, honestly.
1998 - Andrew Wurst
1998 - Michael Carneal
Young schizophrenics with complex delusions who lived in a world less like the real one and more like some bizarre science fiction story dreamscape.
2007 - Seung Hui Cho
He seems as archtypical as he was mysterious. My interest in him is probably most similar to my interest in Lanza, despite their great differences.
2012 - Adam Lanza
I wrote a whole post on this.
2014 - Elliot Rodger
Online presence and clearly stated motive.
2015 - Anton Niclas Lundin Pettersson
I'm not normally interested in ideological attacks, but his attack was as unusual as he was a person.
2015 - Dylann Roof
Again, Dylann was a strange and interesting person prior to the shooting, motive aside.

I also have an interest in the following, which is somewhat restricted by the lack of information.

2019 - Nathaniel Berhow
2019 - Daniil Pul’kin
2020 - Anthony Quinn Warner
Chinese school attacks in general
And too many others to list. I spend far too much of my excessive free time researching this kind of thing.

Hey, same. I have absolutely no interest in serial killing whatsoever, even in famous cases, but those two are unique. Something about them reminds me more of spree killing - the heavy online presence (good grindcore too,) the self-mediatization of the crimes, the more melancholy / rejected than psychopathic psychology, their life histories, and that they had no hopes or attempts at escaping.

I also have occasional 1-2 week fixations on a certain shooting/mass attack. Some of those have been Kip Kinkel, Michael Ryan, Adam Lanza and Kimveer Gill

Nikolas Cruz - he really caught my eyes based on his life. This is someone who truy had the odds against him from the beginning.
I'm not surprised it ended like it did. Professional school shooter

Dylann Roof - his persona and overall awkwardness. His photo collection on its own is filled with whatthefuck moments.

Honorable mention: Adam Lanza - young master Danza. Choice of victims, DDR, veganism, autism and what not.

I used to be obsessed with the Jokela and Kauhajoki shootings in 2018/2019 but since then my enthusiasm kinda dropped. Im still into them, just dont do as much research into them as I used to.

As for now in which has sucked me in the most like Columbine? Well If I had to choose, maybe either the Kerch or Suzano school massacres

The Brussels cell, Breivik, Friedrich Leibacher, and many cases outside of the US.
