I haven't done much looking into the Stoneman Douglas shooting, nor have I looked into Nikolas Cruz as a person (as a matter of fact I've only read news articles when it happened and a few minutes of his interrogation). What do you all recommend I look at first to get more insight?

This short documentary is a good one on Nikolas Cruz. It goes over events in his life starting from childhood to the Stoneman Douglas shooting:
