Interesting. His early modus operandi reminds me of Luiz Baú, who stabbed his son to death in 1974, was arrested, released in 1980 and killed four more people before being arrested again. However, this time he escaped and there are theories that he was murdered by prison authorities given the severity of his crimes or fled to Paraguay.
Stories of serial killers who were never arrested for their crimes, but were confirmed to have killed other people, or were suspected of killing, are highly intriguing for me. What do you think of Herb Baumeister?

I think they show a more adept level of psychopathy to carry out those crimes for an extended period without leaving clues to who they are. That goes for Herb too who was caught after an extended period of time.
These guys were monsters but they were hardly stupid.

Another strange one serial killer story is Friedrich Louis Koch, who killed his wife on April 15, 1908 and informed police about her alleged disappearence the following day. After the discovery of her foot on April 21 he confessed that he had murdered her during an argument, dismembered and burned her body and then buried the remains with the exception of her foot, which he discarded several days later. He also confessed to the murder of another woman two years earlier and was a suspect in seven more. Koch was sentenced to death for the two murders in October the same year and was decapitated at the Weimarer Landesgefängnis on November 21, 1909. Shortly before his execution he confessed to three other murders.
Strangely enough, a Brazilian newspaper reported that he killed ten members of his family in a mass murder in 1908. The report only said his surname was Koch. It was later discovered to be a hoax.
