The question is what do you think he might have been misleading people on? His statements seem pretty consistent (at least under the "Smiggles" handle) that it's hard for me to consider what, if any, was misdirection.

I will agree though, that the possibility of him smashing his hard drive might've been because he was embarrassed and didn't want others to see what he'd been posting or looking at.

I browse r/masskillers semi-regularly for info I may otherwise miss, but the comments can be a cesspool at times. Especially as of late with the increased number of subscribers (read: the influx of the general reddit populace that loves to make everything about their favorite flavor of politics while not having anything to say about the mass killers themselves apart from “evil pos”/“burn in hell”). r/Columbine is better, but my interest in Columbine, as opposed to some other mass shootings, is occasional rather than constant.

Also I apologize since I’m pretty sure you haven’t made this thread for the purpose of complaining about reddit. ;D

I think some of the things he said people have read too much into, like the castration thing which I still see people bring up sometimes. I wouldn't be surprised if he smashed the hard drive just to mess with people, since he would have been fully aware about the mystique that would create as it has with other shooters. It could have been embarassment too, some people say there's no reason he would feel embarassed about anything considering what he was about to do, but embarassment doesn't really work like that and he may well have fixated on how certain things on there might have been perceived and blown it out of proportion.

No problem at all, I too share the same criticisms of r/masskillers as it's more of a moral circle jerk to see who is a more ethical "researcher" rather than actually making productive efforts to understand the subject matter, most of the users come off as very childish. But hey, that's just reddit in general I guess.

I browse r/masskillers only to see new information on shooters or to see any updates on recent shootings. I also occasionally post something if I think that it is interesting and relevant to the sub. I don't really go into the comments for many of the same reasons that have already been said but occasionally a good comment can pop up which I find interesting.

Well, the castration joke made sense considering that Adam expressed disgust with society’s fixation with sex. I’m not sure if I want to know what else could be possibly said about it...

Idk I've seen people think he was being 100% serious about it. Maybe because they don't realise he could be quite jokey/sarcastic, and it would just emphasise him being 'weird'.
