How and why the hell was Dylan released early from Juvenile Diversion?

Missed his appointments, missed his community service, shitty grades and basically gave the middle finger to the diversion when he wrote an essay on time management. I believe he put the wording in a weird format, huge font size etc

How was he allowed to leave the same day as Eric? He didn't give a shit about it.

Because Eric left early, it's only reason I could think of. I think the reasoning would have been that Eric was being released earlier, and they had faith that Eric would be able to keep Dylan in line.

Probably negligence on account of the staff, Them being put in together so it only seemed right to release them together, And probably because the ones supervising them honestly probably just didn't give a shit or see the threat that they really were. Maybe eric's little manipulativeness in writing that essay helped too.

Probably because they were relatively bright, white, upper-middle-class kids from good homes.

The diversion officers probably thougth taht tehse guys broke into a van out of boredom and that chances are they will join a gang or continue with other such crime is minimal, so they let them go.

In some way they were correct. Theft was not really something they would continue to do.

Ok, perfect sense. Does anyone who actually stole the bike used in the car wax commercial? Krabbe mentions it was a real stolen bike.

Dylan lied on his diversion files. Eric on the other side was true on his feelings, was more cooperative, so i think it was a dumb decision to let dylan leave earlier

It was the halo effect from Eric, but also I think Eric and Dylan were not considered as bad as the other kids in diversion.

I wish someone would have interviewed the kids that were in diversion with them, they were not deemed eligible to get out early yet the two boys who were "good" went on to commit a massacre.
