Do you believe that either or both of the boys were "born bad" - that Eric and/or Dylan suffered from some profound psychological problem (psychopathy, etc.) that keeps someone from living a normal, happy, healthy life?

No, I don't think they were born bad. I think they both had undiagnosed mental illnesses.

Time just can change some of your beliefs, and when something you deeply cared for crumbles down, the worst in us might surface. Also, neurobiology plays its part. The way you show off anger is strictly personal, and it depends mostly on the wiring of the frontal lobes and the density of the superior longitudinal fasciculus (it strenghtens the connectivity between hemispheres). I don't believe that either of them were born bad. But I do think that it's possible to indeed be born "bad". You come into this world with a hardwired personality and nothing can change that on a deeper level.
