At first, I was thinking it was a quote from the book Far From the Tree until I read it completely. This is why I don't visit tumblr often.

Yes. Very Sad. And the fangirls that think this wouldn't even give the fucking time of day to the Erics and Dylans at their own schools who are alive and need and want the love and attention. E/D are dead and gone for 15 Frickin years, girls, pay some attention to the live boys who are like Eric and Dylan and could benefit from the adoration.
I will now get off my soapbox. Thank you.

Dylan would not have wanted to "cuddle, hug and kiss" you. Dylan would have shot you in the head along with everyone else. I know a lot of the fans say "Oh, he wouldn't have shot me". Yes, he would have. They didn't care if their own friends got blown up that day. It is a shame that these fans cannot grasp that concept; they wanted to destroy the whole school and everyone in it.

Sure, there were probably a few people they didn't want to intentionally kill, but if they became collateral damage, that didn't matter to them. The way Dylan talks in his journal, it is almost as if he hoped to kill his true love so that they could live together in bliss in the afterlife.

The problem with these girls is that they think Dylan was so romantic and sweet for the things he wrote in his journal, and no, as you said, he would shot them all in the head. These girls kind of forget what he did with Eric their last day and when they do, they talk about the bullying problem and even say that all the 13 victims bullied them. They see Eric and specially Dylan like charm princes with trench coats, they totally forget most of the time that in the end they are killers. And ThoughtBox made a good point, they should pay attention to the guys close to them that could be like Eric and Dylan but I bet that in the school they ignore them and even make fun of them

If they would have met him at the day of the shooting, yes. But otherwise, I think its obvious that Dylan had a strong need for intimacy.

I've read somewhere something like this: "Girls want a bad boy who would be good with them, boys want a good girl who would be bad with them". Huge generalization, but seems to be applicable here, at least the first part

Agreed. I do think prior to 4/20, Dylan greatly longed for any sign of intimacy and connection but on the day of NBK, he threw everything away including any hope for that.  His rationale at that point was that intimacy, unconditional love and happiness would be found and attained after death in the next existence. The thing to keep in mind is that Dylan (and Eric) had attained a warlike mindset when it came to 4/20.  They agreed that in attacking the virus that was the school and ridding it of the filth that infected it (the rampant stereotypes they had come to hate), that some friends would obviously be there, which couldn't be avoided or helped, and so these unfortunate friends would simply become collateral damage in the grand scheme of their nefarious war plan.  It's a sick way of looking at it but realistically there would be no other way to plot revenge on a massive school with a huge population and random friends coming and going during their planned rampage timeframe.

If they came upon friends, which Dylan did in the case of John Savage and Tim Castle, it was up to them - Dylan and Eric -  whether they showed mercy. Essentially, their concept of 'Godlike' fit  as to whether they felt like sparing or killing a given individual on whim.    John and Tim both report in the 11k that Dylan spared them and it came across to them that Dylan made a reasoned choice in refraining from killing them.  Dylan was reported to have said when he discovered John in the Library "we like know you, we like you, you're cool".  (It was also reported by someone that Eric argued with Dylan over sparing John).  And with Tim, both ended up staring at one another from a distance in the ceiling compartments within the cafeteria.  How odd as the night before they spoke via phone and discussed Fantasy baseball strategies.  When Dylan realised it was his friend Tim, he refrained from pointing his weapon.  Tim mentioned that he was sure Dylan had recognized him and let him go.  Where Dylan allowed himself to be merciless and cold and shot callously was with people he didn't genuinely know and so it was easier as it didn't matter much not having a personal connection.   I believe in these instances, and there would be a considerable amount of those 'unknowns' in a school of 2,000, Dylan was capable of killing males and females on that day without hesitation.  In the library, he stuck his weapon under the table blind and shot randomly.  Dylan and Vanessa Grimes made eye contact in the cafeteria, be he didn't do anything.  They were TCM friends.  However, if Dylan came across girl/s he didn't know, watch out, as there would be a good chance that he would see you as fair game and you'd be just another zombie in the Doom game.  If said girl was especially pretty and looked like a Jock trophy girl friend complete with designer brand clothing, watch the hell out!  ;)

That's a great and lesser known incident during the shooting. Thanks for pointing it out.

These girls love the fantasy, not the person. They create a person in their head and attach a name/face to that.
Nothing to do with reality.

Exactly.

TheFragile wrote:

So have I. But regarding this subject, while many of the delusional columbine fanatics who just coo over caricaturized versions of Eric and Dylan are concentrated to tumblr, and don't venture much further, there are some (who are not teenagers, I must mention) who have no qualms whatsoever when it comes to stalking people connected to the tragedy, be it families of the killers, victims' families, or survivors, including females Eric and Dylan were connected to and/or romantically interested in, and plastering their findings all over tumblr, which is an entirely public platform. (And this particular ilk will have an aneurysm if ANYONE posts anything of a private nature about them. Hypocrites of the highest order.)

To clarify, let me make note of this right now: using information from the 11K along with yearbook photos (and/or videos from news reports where these people willingly showed their faces and shared information) is NOT the same as scouring social media to find present day information. That is beyond disrespectful, and there really is no excuse for it. A lot of these people don't think that they have to tighten security settings on their accounts because they really have nothing to do with what happened; they were innocent bystanders. But, if they ever google their names, they will probably be quite horrified to see what has been snatched from them and posted. Some people have even touched upon this, like Devon Adams. Bottom line: everyone affiliated with this tragedy are not Brooks Brown. He wants to (or wanted to) share all sorts of information across the internet. That's his decision, and it doesn't mean everyone else is up for such invasive behavior, nor do they deserve it.

One may argue that the families of the killers don't deserve privacy, or that due to the quest for answers, the media invasion on their privacy trumps fangirls' behavior and may have in fact encouraged it. I wouldn't agree with that personally, but to be fair I will say it is up for debate.

However, there is NO excuse as to why anyone thinks they have the right to probe into the private lives of the less vocal friends and the females these two boys hung out with, had crushes on, went on dates with, or worked with. Imagine being the vague or somewhat close associate of someone who did something of this caliber, and having all of your present day private information broadcast across lightning fast, essentially unstoppable, entirely public media by groupies. It wouldn't be much fun, and if I were in the shoes of those being stalked, I would probably be in prison for attempted murder.

It's ironically hilarious that the people who behave this way tell their detractors to "get a life" and to "mind their own business", when their actions irrefutably illustrate that they don't have much of a life and don't have a remote inkling of a clue as to how to mind their own business themselves.

That is exactly what it is for 99% of them. It's fine if they choose to create their own fantasy, but that's what it is: a fantasy. Many of them LOVE arguing that they KNOW they are right when their views are not remotely based in reality.

Thanks! I could write a whole lot more about this subject, and my seemingly unhealthy anger towards these types of people, but that would be giving them MUCH more attention and space then they ultimately deserve, especially in this forum where there are many thoughtful, intelligent, compassionate, and articulate members.

If they're so obsessed and determined to ''save'' Eric and Dylan, then why not start a ''Save the Dorks who Want to Blow up their Schools and All the People in It'' movement and date those guys at their own schools?

All the bullied kids
The depressed loners
The pimpled-face rotund guys
The computer nerds
The scrawny little racists
The socially awkward bookish boys

Not tragic and romantic enough, perhaps.

A date with Dylan Klebold would be very awkward. He was painfully shy as we all know and he would probably barely talk. The only exception would be if he was dating a girl he had been friends with for years, like Devon. Dylan most likely was not the type to call a girl, especially in those days since only a few kids had cell phones. He'd have to risk getting the girl's father answering the phone and have to deal with him. lol

This.  During most school shootings, the shots are fired at random.

Totally agree with you. I think it is much easier to concentrate their "love" on some idealized character than a real person, with all its advantages and disadvantages. Most teenage girls suffer this kind of nonsense. It's a pity that not all people it goes away with time. We are all to some extent interested in the details of life of famous people or any of the events, listen to gossip or the news, apparently curiosity is part of human nature. It's OK if not go into obsession. There is always a line that cannot be crossed, a line where curiosity turns into madness.

I don't know why girls only like the bad guys, it's like the real good guys get the short end of the stick.

When I first got into this subject earlier this year and started doing some research and searching online I came across Tumblr and thought to myself "what the actual f*ck did I just see" when I saw all these teens basically declaring their love for kids (who killed) and have been dead for 17 years because of the memories of these boys that are second hand memories. I couldn't comprehend it, they were talking of Eric and Dylan as if they were guys in a teen magazine. I do fully agree with what ThoughtBox said regarding the fact that these girls who are drooling over DK and EH probably ignore and maybe bully (because they seem to bully people even on Tumblr from what I've noticed) the kids that are like them now, not seeing the irony in what they are doing. I had a point I was getting to but I completely forgot it so ill leave it at that.

I remember posting a comment in another thread similar to this one a while back, and I just went through all my posts to find it b/c I thought it would be appropriate here too:

The reality is that if E&D never committed the massacre and were just guys that happened to go to the same school as a lot of their followers/admirers/fangirls/whatever, these girls/guys most likely wouldn't have given them the time of day. They would have seen Eric as weird and Dylan as having greasy hair. Just like the real people who went to school with them and actually knew them in Real Life saw them.

Nothing to do with reality.

I feel like this is pretty much what Dylan did with the people he had crushes on as well

Huh, good that you brought up this older topic! Many good thoughts, again.

I really like [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] 's idea. This would be a really constructive thing to do, if someone wishes to transform their Eric and Dylan fandom into something positive.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], these are very sensible thoughts! Maybe the fangirls who fantasize about Dylan not wanting to shoot them should do the same amount of research as you did.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], amen to that. In a certain age, this fangirl attitude is considered normal, and I agree it is sad that this does not always goes with time. And living in one's fantasies is sometimes easier...

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], I assume their being dead plays an important role in the whole fandom thingy. An ideal is supposed to be unreachable - so that the fangirls' fantasies may never conflict with reality. A dead ideal is one who never causes any disappointments.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], yes! This is what "projecting and idealizing" is about!

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]: yeah. He seems to have been living in a fantasy world and had this black-and-white type thinking, either idealizing or demonizing/loathing someone. Maybe the idealizing part attracts so many fangirls? Don't know.

I have an ambivalent attitude towards fangirls.
It is very irritating to see them being so crazily in love with two dead guys. I wonder if any of these girls began to wonder "it's high time I grew up"? (The same goes for other fangirls, not only Eric and Dylan's.)
But.
Fandom and having ideals is a natural part of growing up. In a certain age, it is healthy to have an unreachable ideal who can be a subject of projections and fantasies.
In healthy cases, these ideals gradually get a lesser importance and the person integrates the qualities - that they used to project onto the ideal's image - into their own personality.

The other problem - here - is that it is not too healthy to choose murder-suicide teens as one's ideals. What were their values that do worth admiring?

There are many Erics and Dylans out there, I am pretty sure about it. Just not all of them are potential school shooters. And they surely deserve the girls' attention.

I just wish girls didn't like the "bad boys" and started going for the real good guys. I bet some of the women on this forum were the same way in high school. I mean why do women only want to date jocks and not nerds? they can be nice looking too or why can't a jock date a nerdy girl? Their is so much stereotyping.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] It works both ways and not all girls like jocks and "bad boys". I sure as hell didn't in high school and I'm pretty sure there are a lot more people than you think that don't care about athletic, sporty jock types. I was more of an outcast and most of the people I was interested in (who weren't even close to "jock status") didn't care for me, and that's just how it works sometimes.

Part of e&d's problem with girls is that, for one, Eric seemed to be drawn to shallow, superficial girls that he thought were cute but couldn't carry on a deep conversation (deep convos were pretty important to him, but he didn't seem to have a problem sacrificing that for looks). Dylan's love interests are more up for speculation, but he spent more time admiring them from a distance and creating fantasies about them in his head instead of approaching them, which is what held him back. After the massacre a couple people who knew Dylan claimed to have been interested in him. But even e&d set standards and were too good to date nerdy girls or girls more on their social level or whatever.

Exactly, if you love the person with all your heart, it doesn't matter what type of "social class" you're in. Besides we cute nerds are probably better in bed lol Very Happy

Also, I wasn't all nerdy in H.S. I got best student and most improved rewards. I almost got voted the guy most likely to succeed.
