Did John Savage know it was E&D?

I don't know if I've simply forgotten, or if it's never been stated anywhere, but did John initially know it was E&D in the library before his encounter with them?

He saw that it was them when they entered the library before the encounter.

At first he tought there was only one shooter and that it was just some crazy person that decided to shoot up the school

Another thing I find interesting about John Savage is from what other people said about his behaviour in the library.

Jennifer Doyle: "Doyle stated there was a male student (Savage) sitting underneath the table that the map had designed as number 11. She stated that the male looked calm. She thought he was handling the situation much better than she was."

Seth Houy also added: "Savage was sitting with his knees pulled up and his head against the table. Savage seemed to be in his own little world."

Maybe he was. But I honestly believe that John's calmness is likely what saved his life.

Eric must have at least thought he recognized John, why else would he have asked him to identify himself? He didn't do that with anyone else (that we know of).

I agree and I also think that him being calm helped a lot. He must have been terrified.
