Pretty sure if it was gang violence the shooter wouldn't have died, a gang member would probably try to escape. Also I don't see why they would shoot a young girl and so many others if it was a gang shooting.

Seems too many women and small kids shot to it be a simple gang shooting. Otherwise I'd expect the victims to be mostly gang members, with maybe 1 or two bystanders getting shot by stray bullets.

A police source also told Global News that Hussain believed he was the Joker character from the "Batman" movies. The source added that Hussain "was fascinated with death and explosions. He also liked replica handguns."

I stopped watching the 6pm news and choose to read news that interests me. So, I wouldn't know Toronto has a gun problem until recently.
2005 was a bad a year for gun crime in Toronto. Most notably for the boxing day shooting that year, which was gang related unlike this Toronto shooting.
