Surely those red flags aren't all bullet impact points? If so they were incredibly inefficient marksmen to only kill Rachel and injure Richard in that area leading to the entrance.

She was killed near the door I believe. Here is a screenshot of chopper footage showing the police going to her initial spot to retrieve her body [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Here is a link to the footage. They retrieve Richard first then go back for Rachel.

Might be shell casings locations.
