I thought most people already know that his German was pretty bad!
If anyone's still interested... It's bad. While he knows a few words he has no sense of German grammar. Whatsoever.
He uses singular words correctly pretty often:"How many Jo MAMMA jokes are there and how many do you think are original and not copied. KEINE
[German: none]."
He borrows phrases from German lyrics and uses them in ways that make sense (but still don't necessarily fit when you look at the grammatical structure of the sentence aka syntax), so I guess he knew enough to translate them:
"Fuckers think they are higher than me and everyone else with all their $ just because they were born
into it? Ich denk NEIN [German: I think not]." You could say that.
"if you think I don’t know what I’m talking about then you can just “BUCK DICH”" That one doesn't work so well, because you can't translate "bend over" and "bück dich" 1 to 1 and make it work grammatically but the meaning is clear.
When he tries to use his own words he tends to get into trouble:"and saugen mein hund [German: suck my dog]!" That's just trying to translate "suck my dog" word to word and it doesn't work at all.
But you kinda get the meaning in the context. Without knowing his tone and context and that he speaks English he very well might have said that he's vacuuming his dog.
My professional verdict (
) is that he might have been able to translate some German text as long as it wasn't too complicated but even basic conversational skills? No way.
I wonder what they learned in German class and what Eric's writing assignments looked like! I'd really, really like to see them! I'd have a field day!
