"U.S. counties above 4,000 feet have twice the suicides as counties at 2,000 feet. Is it because there's less oxygen in the air, or is something else going on?"

Littleton is at 5,300ft.

That is an interesting read. I have had a file saved on my pc for years and something I always include in my studies.

One part reads:

"...theorized that low atmospheric pressure at altitude caused declining blood oxygen levels and these conditions effect serotonin - the chemical that helps regulate mood - and would also lead to low oxygen circulating throughout the brain."

interesting. i never thought there could be that kind of correlation. i guess a factor is that since the higher altitudes are...well...higher, there's less oxygen, and with less oxygen, people tend to act differently.

Every time I've been to Colorado I always seem to get a sort of mental fog for the first day or so. Of course it may just be a side effect of having to adjust to the thinner air & easier fatigue onset, because I'm used to operating my ass at sea level.
