Yang Shitou's single chopstick (3 killed, 1 wounded.)
Bastian Bosse had a caplock pistol and percussion rifle, just a couple of hundred years too late (0 killed, 22 wounded, 6 by actual weapons.)
Natalya Kabakova used a pneumatic pistol (7 wounded.)
Ninth grade student (Vinnytsia, 2011) used a pneumatic gun (3 wounded.)
An unnamed 9 year old boy (Washington Elementary STEM Magnet School, 2019) used a BB gun (3 wounded.)

Would that act like a regular gun or would the gun be poor quality e.g. underpowered bullets, frequent malfunctions,abysmal accuracy.

Percussion shotgun actually. Would be pretty brutal if he used it.

.22 isnt really weak round, it wasn't designed for ranges past the 100m mark, low recoil mostly used for competition.
.177cal air rifles also can kill.

Yeah, .177 air rifles technically can kill but the likelihood of actually dying after getting shot by one is extremely low. A lot of things can kill, doesn't make them good for killing.
