LaDue's voice wavers a few times in the interview, including at the moment he describes why he wanted to die.
"I really wanted to get out of this place," he said.
The detective asked, "Why is this place so bad?"
"I don't know. I don't really care for it," LaDue said.
A psychological exam is pending.
It sounds like a major tragedy was avoided when this kid was caught. He was certainly well-prepared. He also said that he thinks he is just really mentally ill and has been trying to hide it. I wonder if this is a lead-in to an insanity plea or if he truly feels that way.

It's because Eric is portray as a psychopathic mastermind all the time and Dylan portray as just the follower all the time. But there are plenty of people that "idolize" Dylan on Tumblr. If you know what mean.

I'm on tumblr. I know exactly what you mean.
But it seems that anyone who really dug into the case would know differently. And obviously idolizing them requires SOME knowledge of the case. Surely these kids don't read Cullen's book and idolize Eric from that? Maybe they do. Hell. When I get obsessed with something, I will read/watch/study anything remotely related to it that I can get my hands on - that may just be my weirdness coming out.

Glad to hear more about this case and what he had to say. It seems that he wasnt only following Columbine, but also wanted to make something worse than Sandy Hook.

Several things that have come up so far in this case are interesting when compared with what happened at Columbine.
1. LaDue said he wanted to kill his parents and sisters just so he could increase the kill count. Not because he would prevent their suffering from shame or persecution. And not because he hated them. Just to have three more victims. In all of the Columbine material, there is not a hint that Eric & Dylan contemplated killing their parents.
2. A newspaper article called the small CO2 bombs LaDue manufactured "crickets" without saying where that name came from.
3. LaDue said he was able to persuade his father everything was OK because he was a good liar.
4. He said he had "felt out" various friends to see if any of them would join up with him. At least one helped him make explosives. But he didn't feel any of them would make the grade. One Columbine theory (not proven) is that Eric tested a few friends to see if any of them would make good accomplices.

LaDue actually pleaded guilty to one count of possessing an explosive device on September 18th, 2015, meaning that five other counts of possessing explosive devices have been dismissed as a result of the plea deal.
Instead, LaDue will spend no time in jail and will be sent to an inpatient facility specializing in treatment for autism spectrum disorder. After which he will be sent to a halfway house and be put on probabtion (which, if violated, will send LaDue to prison for 22 months). A sentence hearing will be held on October 19th where a judge will decide between a 5-10 year probation period.
