Port Arthur Massacre 1996

Australia today just had its worst mass shooting since Port Arthur, a murder suicide in a home in Western Australia, seven killed with four of them being only children.

America has seemed a bit quiet in terms of mass shootings since April 22nd at the Waffle House.

It's really sad isn't it? It says so much about our dumbed down culture. Everything is a conspiracy now...and there's always someone willing to feed them the horse shit they love to gobble up.

A case like this should have no conspiracy nonsense attached to it. Even Ray Charles can see he did it. There's absolutely nothing backing the possibility of other shooters or some other conspiracy, yet it doesn't stop people from pretending in a conspiracy for their own entertainment.

Port Arthur is the only shooting where a conspiracy theory does make some sense, but i still believe the Shooter was Martin Bryant.

I think Bryant was involved, but I don't think he was alone. This does not strike me as the type of damage that can be inflicted by someone of his intelligence who just 'snapped'. This was planned, coordinated and possibly even practiced beforehand. It all happened too quickly to have not been an operation of sorts instead of a deranged person deciding on a whim.

Byrant did plan it, after murdering the couple at seascape he purposely drove to port Arthur as he thought someone would stop him.

Well perhaps he planned those first two murders. He blamed them for his father's suicide.

It's hard with alleged diminished mental capacity to kill so many while firing from the hip in so short a span of time. That cafe and gift shop phase of the massacre does not sound like Bryant to me...

Yeah but he was at point blank if you ask me hip firing shows me he was too dumb to aim well holding it up so did it in a way that was easy for him.

Well yes of course they can but can they be accurate at that speed? Whoever shot up that cafe and gift shop was not some gibbering, grinning idiot. He slaughtered a lot of people very quickly and left a round in the chamber on each reload so that he would never be vulnerable while reloading.

Does that kind of constant rapid action really sound like something Bryant seemed capable of? In the interrogation video I do not see that person.

So what was the end goal of the operation in your opinion? Gun grabbing? For the hell of it?

I think gun grabbing and I'm not really familiar with how quick the pistol grab was after Dunblane, but Port Arthur was six weeks after Dunblane, so..

How someone acts in a police interview does not affect how good they are with a gun.

I always heard it was one or two minutes for the cafe and another minute or two in the gift shop

About 20 killed and 10 injured in the cafe and gift shop in less than 2 minuets apparently.

Not very hard to do considering that it was at close range and the majority of deaths were headshots, I mean Adam managed to kill 14 people in one minute.

The weird thing is that Martin Bryant had 2 girlfriends, most other shooters/mass murderers like him are incels.

The fact that someone like Martin accomplished all that carnage in 24 hours is the reason Port Arthur is my favorite case.

I agree, Port Arthur is a much more facinating case than Columbine.

I think Port Arthur is one of the most underrated shootings of all time.

Port Arthur is what got me into the mass shooting study.

Martin Bryant is such an enigma, far more interesting than Adam Lanza, including the fact he used to fly around the world just to talk to people on the airplane. The biggest mystery is that he actually had a girlfriend and still committed the shooting.

He also ate at Broad Arrow Café before shooting it up.

Martin Bryant would be my favourite shooter if he had written a good manifesto, he certainly has charisma that most other shooter don't have.
