Virginia reporter & cameraman shot & killed on live TV (August 26th, 2015)

Two members of a local TV station's news team were fatally shot Wednesday during a live TV broadcast near Roanoke, Va., WDBJ7-TV said.

A manhunt was underway in Franklin County, Va., after multiple shots were fired. WHSV-TV reported that a suspect was being pursued on a nearby interstate.

"We do not know the motive, we do not know who the suspect, who the killer is," station manager Jeffrey Marks said later on a live broadcast.

The live broadcast at the time of the shooting showed reporter Alison Parker, 24, interviewing someone at a water park when, just off camera, shots rang out and Alison is heard screaming.

The station said the shooting took place at about 6:45 a.m. Killed were WDBJ7's cameraman Adam Ward, 27, and reporter Parker, 24.

There is a video of killings on youtube right now, but i'm sure it will be deleted soon. Warning: graphic and chilling.

It looks like the station cut away before she was shot, or at least before she died ... you can still hear her screaming.

She was. She's apparently in surgery right now. They're now saying they think it may be a deranged former employee with that news company. Which I guess would mean the intent was to kill the two that died, & maybe shoot who ever else was unfortunately in their path. You can see that the first bullet hits Alison's side and back, then the cameraman falls to the ground seemingly at the exact same time. Crazy

Wow She didn't even stand a chance. That was clearly close range.

Holy shit. I'm surprised the woman didn't see him and react when he was standing behind the camera man with his gun out for over 10 seconds first. From what I can tell from his video, he was quite close to them.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. He even waves his gun around and she doesn't see it.

God rest their souls.

They were occupied by their job so the shooter was unnoticed. I'll not surprise if in the future someone will put the helmet with a camera on head and shoot some school up.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking too. I suppose reports have to get used to blocking out whats going on around them. I'm amazed she didn't even glimpse it enough in the corner of her eye to figure out it was a gun though.

Thanks for closely watching and posting the breaking news. I stepped away from my laptop for literally less than an hour and all of this happened. This has to be one of the craziest public shootings in recent history. Despite the death toll.

So, he's not dead? Surely he'll be a vegetable if he somehow survives that injury

What is it like to die? Does your life flash before your eyes? Do you see a bright light?

My grandmother "died" once on an operating table ... she said she was floating above her body, watching the doctors work on her. Then she came back.

My cousin "died" during a drug overdose ... she said she didn't see or hear anything.

I work as a reporter and I can say that in those situations you are so focused on the interview, keeping your act straight, holding the microphone up and going through your next question in your mind that you don't notice anything that happens around you.

What a horrible incident.

When I first read that a TV reporter and a camera man were shot to dead during live television, I thought that it probably happened in dark hours in some bad neighborhood or in inner city location, they probably were reporting on a gang- or drug-related incident and simply got in the line of fire - being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

But then actually seeing that it was nothing more than a normal, quiet, routine morning television interview for a local television in a small town about a not-that-significant matter... And someone came there to get them... So sad.

This trend of filming your murder POV and then posting it online... It's scary.

I wonder how Columbine would have been if it had happened on April 20, 2015. Would E/D have filmed it? Post online during the shootings? Post the Basement Tapes online? I'm sure we would also have some videos of students hiding in the school and "the last tweets" of the victims...

Also makes me think how far away Columbine is. Eric and Dylan never had an idea what YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. even were.

I get the feeling he wanted to make sure he would get that same 'fame' status. He really went out of his way to try and explain and make up justifiable reasons for it. In the end, that particular statement makes no sense when he only shot at 3, killing 2, & wounded the other. We're not even sure he intended to shoot at the lady Alison was interviewing. She was just in the line of fire. That wasn't a spree killing. It was personal.

It's also kinda ironic he chose to spell Dylan's name like Dylann Roof.

What a joke. 'That's my boy right there'. Couldn't even spell Dylan's damn name right. Makes himself look like a major tool saying about Cho being 'his boy' for killing so many, when he killed less than 3 people. Everyone is gonna forget about him in a matter of days... dumb as piece of shit.

How awful I just hate hearing about things like this.
