Another Elementary School Shooting

Looks like so far a teen is in custody. Reporting 2 possible injured people

Shot his father and then went to shoot up an elementary school, images of an Adam Lanza copy cat come to mind.

Incident occurred at approximately 1:45pm Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at Townville Elementary School located at 105 Townville School Road, Townville, SC.  Approximately 285 students attend the school.

The suspect is a lone teen-aged white male who entered the school grounds armed with a handgun.

A teacher called in the incident to Anderson County 911.

Two white male students were shot by the suspect, one in the leg and one in the foot.

One white female teacher was shot in the shoulder.

At this time, there is no known relationship between the suspect and the school victims.  

The suspect is home-schooled and is not a student at any school in the Anderson County School District.

One student and the teacher were transported by EMS to AnMed Hospital in Anderson. The other student was transported by Life-Flight to Greenville Hospital System’s Pediatric Trauma Center in Greenville.

We do not know the extent of their injuries at this time but all are receiving medical care.

Officers were on-scene within seven (7) minutes and the perpetrator was apprehended on the school grounds before 2:00pm.  The initial apprehension was made by Firefighter Jamie Brock, a 30-year veteran of the Townville Volunteer Fire Department.  The suspect was then detained by law enforcement.  

Students and staff members were evacuated from the school immediately following the incident.  Students, teachers and on-scene parents were taken by school bus to the Oakdale Baptist Church located on Hwy. 24 in Townville.

All victims and the suspect are white, there are no racial overtones associated with the incident.

The incident is not related to any type of terrorism threat.

The involved school district has been working with law enforcement for the past five years and has been trained in active assailant training.  All Anderson County School Districts undergo this type of annual training.

Townville Elementary does not have a contract School Resource Officer; however, the school is equipped with security cameras and a secured door system.

Classes at Townville Elementary School have been canceled for the remainder of this week, however classes at all other area schools will continue as usual.

Counseling for the students, teachers and other school staff will begin tomorrow.  Location to be determined.  

An active homicide investigation into the shooting death of Jeffrey Dewitt Osborne (47 years old) is being conducted at 150 Osborne Road in Townville. At this time, this homicide is believed to be connected to the school shooting.  Its relevance is being investigated

So according to their records, he's in what? 8th grade? So he is 13/14 years old? So they gave a 12 year old (since the pic was from 2015) a gun to play around with? Sounds like Kip Kinkel all over again. What is wrong with these people? Obviously there was some reason they took this kid out of school and started homeschooling him. Apparently he had some kind of issue with going to school and yet they give him a gun and grenades?

Yes he is 14. He is home schooled because last year he brought a hatchet to school and attacked another child with it. Sounds like he has had issues for a while that have not been resolved

He got given at 12 years old a gun to play, and this little dude brought a hatchet to school before? This boy's history needs to be dug deeper but secondly he is definitely disturbed.

I don't know, this is scary. Literally anyone could be harmful and the last person you'd be looking out for is a blue eyed blonde preteen boy.

So the only casualty is his father.

14 years old. Just a kid.
The whole case reminds me of Lanza.

Wow. sad. There is still one child in critical condition. I hope he pulls thru.

So unfortunately the recent news has come about that one of the shooting victims 6-year-old Jacob Hall has succumbed to his injuries and passed away.

This is beyond sad and heartbreaking. Condolences to his family and I hope he gets justice.

It's very depressing to think that's he's my age. It's obvious that he had been dealing with issues at home and with school or he wouldn't have done it.

I'm pretty sure (?) that you're not allowed to post tumblr links here, but I did find a good post that contained screenshots of Jesse's instagram page. He had a columbine themed account titled 'kmosh_nbk_kmfdm' which has been deleted. He regularly posted photos of the shooters including captions discussing their bomb plans - the last post he made was just a day before the shooting.

I'm really interested in this case.

Pretty interesting shooting. I'll look into it.

Frequently. It's a sad situation here right now. While I am not at all trying to be political, I believe the media here is partially responsible for the racial division we are currently seeing.
