I haven't--and even though it was supposed to come out last year, I haven't been able to find it online anywhere, at least not through my usual channels. I believe it is supposed to re-air on HBO (liek on the television?) sometime in the late winter or early spring. I'll need to look into it as I am intensely fascinated by this case--more kids killing kids, or trying to--but I haven't been able to find to much beyond the basics. I am hoping this documentary sheds more light on just what was going through these kids' minds and why they felt the need to kill because of a fictional character in a creepypasta or whatever.

Apparently, no one cares, but it's airing next week on HBO (in Canada and the US as well I believe) starting Monday Jan 23 at 10am EST. Got it PVR'd and ready to go. So excited.

(Oops...I meant 10PM EST. Hope that was obvious though. This isn’t exactly yer standard daytime fare, even for HBO.)

I have to say that this is one of the most bizarre things I've ever heard of! That people wholeheartedly and fervently believe in such nonsense boggles my brain.

I heard his body type and "style" was loosely based on William S. Burroughs--one of my favourite authors--so that could also be why I care more than I probably should.

Don't know about that, but I heard he was based on german folklore "Der Ritter" (the knight or the rider). Watch the Marble Hornets series. That's where it all started.

I watched a 2020 episode a while back about 2 girls who tried to kill another girl so they could be with Slenderman. (Couldn't watch above posted video so not sure if this is what this is about sorry)

I finally got around to watching this last night.

My husband was telling me from the beginning that Megan had some type of sociopathic behavior. At first I didn't buy the girls interviews because it seemed like who the heck could believe this kind of crap but now I do believe they are just mentally ill. Trying a 12 year old as an adult though seems harsh to me.

Here's a link to the full movie. You guys should watch at free time, they close in on the two girls' lives and their family and it's pretty interesting.

After watching, the interesting and sad thing is that their parents are normal, good, modern, well spoken and extremely remorseful and confused parents. The two girls were brought up well. What happened to them? Well on wikipedia it states the two girls were diagnosed with schizophrenia, something along those lines. One of them was taking medication. So perhaps they were mildly sick. Both of them friends.
While charging them the other half were saying they couldn't plead insanity cause they knew well they wanted to hurt their friend intentionally.

I mean...what's the issue with these two young girls?

I wish Slenderman would kidnap me.

Ok, I'm clearly an idiot. So this Slenderman thing has been around for awhile? And people believe in it? I remember the 2 young girls who tried to kill their friend over Slenderman. That's just weird to me.

I think people know it's folklore but they revel in the fun of creeping themselves out over It. The problem with the two girls is they took it to the next level by wanting to be with slenderman if they killed somebody.

Anyway they were both sick. Morgan had schizophrenia, turns out her dad has it too and now she's on medication held in a hospital while anissa's still in juvenile detention. They will be tried as adults sometime this year.

I remember seeing the "photos" of Slenderman after that happened and it creeped me out a little. I'd literally never heard of it until those girls tried to kill their friend. I had no idea that the Slenderman myth was prevalent before the attack. I'm nut interested in things like Slenderman, so it's no wonder I never heard of it.

It almost was an Eric and Dylan type relationship it seems. Morgan was friends with Bella for a while but then she met Anissa and it seems that was the downfall. I cannot imagine 2 12 year olds planning a murder.

I feel immensely bad and sorry for both their respective parents. They're trying to be strong and keep it together, talk greatly about their daughters but I know they feel so much disappointment and stress. Regret even.

One of the parents looked so much like an old landlord of mine I couldn't think of anything else lol! I can see how all of the parents were just wondering where they went wrong. These two were so young. They still had dolls and stuffed toys in their rooms. They both were seemingly good kids. I wonder if either set of parents ever monitored their child's internet usage. It doesnt seem like it to me. I may be old school but I don't think I would want my 11 to 12 year old on creepypasta or anything like that.

I was so put off when Morgan got an ipad for her birthday on that home video. I'm actually agitated at the fact that all these kids have gadgets that young, and will obviously be so sucked in with their freedom of using it anytime they want with the capability of looking up things they shouldn't. I greatly appreciate the time when we were young we got proper gifts and sources of entertainment say books, videos, video games, we go outside and play games. I mean I did have a laptop but I maintained my time on it. Morgan and Anissa at their state probably threw themselves into deep upon stumbling creepypasta/slenderman hence their imagination had gone wild.

TBH my 2 year old has a tablet lol. But it is set to kid's mode with a password and we monitor what she can and cannot see. She is also not on it all day. So I agree that they should def have monitored whatever they were on. The one dad...I think it was Anissa's dad said he would always look in on her and ask what she was doing which alluded to the fact that he monitored her usage but that just doesn't seem to be the case....or she was good at changing tabs on her internet idk.

There's probably numerous 12-13 year kids who has seen every form of porn out there and their parents don't know about it because it's so easy to as you said, change tabs, go incognito, clear your cache etc etc. TBH if they're seeing all these things and snuff videos, fine.

AS LONG AS they know what's real and what's not and even if it's real it's not gonna psychologically harm them. Cause unfortunately there are people on the internet who might be a threat to society right now.

Growing up, for me at least because we were so poor, I'd spend days and weekends in the woods exploring, playing with my sisters, going to see my grandparents. Life was fun then, hell, we didn't know any other way.

Of course, now I have all the gadgets, iPads, iPhone, computers, etc. the difference is I'm old enough to know when to put it down, when I need to research something that the media tells that doesn't quite add up, etc. I shudder to think how much different my life would have been had I been given carte blanche to unlimited electronics. We didn't even have a TV until I was close to 16.

So does everyone else think they are mentally ill? Or do you think it is some sort of ploy? Do you believe that they both actually believed in slenderman or do you think they used that as a way to commit a murder?

I honestly really go back and forth.

They 'believed' there was a Slenderman and a reward to go with him to the magic castle in a forest or whatever because they were schizophrenic. Although, Megan definitely was but I think they sort of diagnosed Anissa too. Cause I think Anissa was fairly normal and the strange thing was during the day of the attack she turned out to be the aggressive one and pushed Morgan to do the stabbing. and during the interview she was the one was well spoken and seemed excited to explain about Slenderman, but yet was also the one of the two who was crying and acted "scared" throughout. Honestly, I would look out for Anissa cause she seemed sociopathic. She even looked up "Are you a psychopath/sociopath" videos on youtube. I would say, they are sick. At some levels and probably varying ones but I'd say they are.

There have been different things said but I think the general idea was that the girls stated they needed to stab Bella in order to appease slenderman so he wouldn't hurt their families. They said that he had these powers that could get you to do things and that he could kill anyone he wanted at any time.

I dunno why I am so drawn to this. I guess I can see it happening, or the likelihood of it, unfolding almost naturally. It's hard to explain. I mean, yeah, these girls were sick. Clearly. But they were also kids. And even in this day and age, with ipads and all, they have huge imaginations. And when you're that excited about something, you want it to be real. You keep turning it over and over in your mind, and eventually it does become real.

A day or two after the special I was doing some more reading online; there was a similar case in 2015 where a 12-year-old girl STABBED and KILLED her stepmother because 'Laughing Jack'--yet another product of Creepypasta or whatever--'told' her to do so. Yet just because of the US state she was in, and their laws, her name has not been released and she's serving time in a mental institution, not jail. Total double standard. Yeah, these two Slenderman girls knew right from wrong--they tried to cover up the murder and also prevent Bella from getting help--but I do believe trying them as adults when one of them had JUST turned 12 is a little steep.

You can literally find anything at all online. Anything you're looking for. You can find seemingly credible stories that can convince you an alien was issued a speeding ticket on Route 66. I can still find my wacky ass neighbor's online tales of a Yeti that's living feral in our area. In case you were wondering, our friendly neighborhood Yeti is a bit of a perv who peeps in the windows. Who knew Yetis were interested in interspecies relations? Of course, I see these things for what they are and laugh it off. Unfortunately, kids are very suggestible and it's truly a slippery slope they're on if they don't have good guidance and a trusted adult to guide them. It's hard for me to understand, but I didn't grow up with the internet, and for that, I'm so very grateful.
