Adams Motives Overview

I have constructed a brief rough schematic of Adams motives, here it is:
It all comes down to his mental disorders, isolation, loss of reality and seeing the world as meaningless and hurtful, he probably saw children as being domesticated by society and he probably wanted life more simple just like chimp society as he saw society as too stupid, complex, judging and ignorant of nature,thus possibly killing these children so they didn't have to suffer like he had (possibility). i believe he was very disturbed from the suffering he had given to himself through purposeful starvation and dehydration aswell as sleep deprivation which caused him to have screaming face hallucinations around 5:00 Am in the morning and when he was very fatigued, i believe he started to plan around late 2010 - July 2011 after seeing the mass scale and brutality of Anders Breivik and the largest mass murder by a single gunman in history, i believe during that year he descended into oblivion and his mind was irreversibly disturbed, he was intelligent so i believe the reason he targeted Sandy Hook Elementary was because:

It was close to his house

He knew the layout since he formerly went there

The shock factor and lack of resistance (easier targets = higher death toll)

and cause it was a psychologically meaningful place to him where he was a child and probably enjoyed life better then, he grew up there so he wanted to die there

I also believe he had St Rose in his sights as his GPS records showed that he took multiple trips to and past the school aswell as Sandy Hook.


In the end i believe he saw no future for himself and hated the pain that reality caused him which made him resort to a fantasy world where he had many disturbing psychological experiences (hallucinations from sleep deprivation/dehydration/starvation, virtual violence, videos of children shows and children being happy and playing with their friends, paranoia, total sensory isolation (pitch black rooms with no sunlight and only a screen producing light, Psychological episodes in the early morning including crying in toilet and possibly the reason he hit his head a few days before the massacre.

in conclusion he was Disturbed, Suffering,hopeless for a future and thought the only way out was to kill himself and due to his obsession with mass murder, he undoubtedly wanted to commit a cruel massacre with a major kill count that would leave him with the legacy of one of the most evil mass murderers of all time, he was obsessive over mass murder and knew the exact factors that would make his attack devastating and what firearms to use to cause max casualties, he was probably envisioning himself at the top of his spreadsheet.

I'll probably re evaluate my thought of his motives over time and will refine it with the more data on Adam i find, hopefully we see more info on Newtown and Adam in the future but unfortunately i believe we wont. There will always be mysteries unsolved.

What do you guys think? anything you feel i missed or need to correct?

I think it is also worth mentioning the relationship Adam had with his mother since we also don't know why he killed her. He drove to Sandy Hook one day before the shooting, but we don't know, if he was checking out the building to just drive home afterwards and to wait for his mother to come home to kill her eventually or if he actually wanted to do the shooting on the 13th of December.
We know he mentioned to his friend that he had a strained relationship with her but we don't know why exactly.

No thank you with knocking into my head on my other post, but i believe he killed his mother as he saw her as irrational, he might of killed her as he did not want her to be blamed or the fact that he knew she tried alot to help him and the event may of ruined her life if she was alive so he thought he'd put her out of her misery, maybe he did it so he'd have no resistance or problems carrying out or leaving the house with all the guns and gear which is likely a partial reason aside from emotion

I believe he killed his mother as he blamed her for his problems.
Most Spree or Mass Murderers kill loved ones and say that they are doing it in love.
However they usually have deep seeded rage towards them.

As for his motive, him wanting to be the known as the worst mass murderer ever is likely it.
He likely saw no way for him to go but mass murder-suicide.

If sandy hook really did happen then this is my opinion of his motive.


I been thinking about the his motive. This my opinion after listening to the radio phone call he left behind.

I think Travis the Chimp=Adam Lanza

I think he saw himself as travis the chimp. Basically travis the chimp was sick and overweight.

I think Adam Lanza may have know he was suffering from mental issues because he called Travis sick and complete mess so I think in a way Lanza knew his depression was getting worse and he might have to commit suicide in the future.



The thing is Lanza blamed the chimp problem on society he thought that society made us sick by technology.

So in a way Lanza thought it was not his fault he was sick, it was society that made people sick.


I do not think Adam Lanza ever clearly explained how exactly society made people sick . But he did say since a lot of people are on Zoloft and Prozac and Xanax they are sick.


Lanza said there are sick people in society. But to Lanza it was not their brain chemistry which made them sick it was society which made people sick.

So in Lanza view society was causing his issues. It was domesticating people in his words.


Basically I think Adam Lanza blamed society for his troubles and school and place which he seems to believe "brainwashed people" into accepting society which in his view makes them sick.

And he said people are born chimp and wild state.

I think Lanza saw being wild and stuff as happy. Maybe he saw he his childhood as happy.

People are born without any rules. But then in the process of school people learn
to respect authority and they are indoctrinated by certain belief and culture.


And Lanza hated the culture he hated civilization, because Lanza thought civilization made
people miserable especially him. Now when you think about its true civilization can only keep going
with technology and passing down culture and science from previous generations to the children.

So by destroying the school he was striking back at society.



I think that was what he was trying to say on his tape in my opinion that was one of his motives.



But I think Lanza had several motives
1. Fame
2. Suicide ( I think committing suicide was one of his motives)
3. Very Strong depression
4. Considering his interest in man-boy relationships, there may have been like a sexual aspect to the shooting, but I am not sure.
5. travis the chimp theory

And possibly even more motives, but unless the police release more stuff we may never know.
