On the Anniversary - what do they do at Columbine?

Has anyone ever actually visited Columbine on the day of the anniversary? If so, what actually goes on?

I know when Frank D was in charge they shut the school and just had a rememberwnce service at the memorial. Is this still the case?

They have no classes that day, I think they still do that.

Yeah I too expect that's still the case. I'm meaning is there anything that goes on inside of the school as part of the rememberance (like something in the gym perhaps?). Or is it just a case of everyone goes home after the service at the memorial. I was reading through the memorial programme I have from a past anniversary and that was just linked to the service outdoors.

I'm guessing not much else goes on. Frank used to read out the names of the victims over the P.A. to an empty school as I recall reading.

That presents a very sad mental image, having their names echoing through the silent halls.

I bet they didn't read Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold while reading out victims names over the P.A.

Their names are not written on the wall of one of the hallways. Reading their names on the ceremony would cause a fuss.

I mean, they did the massacre and everything but they are victims too. And yea it would cause a stir

While I do consider Eric and Dylan to be victims in a way, it just wouldn't be right to list them with the people they killed.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I do believe in the year(s) right after Columbine the anniversary was still open but half or so of the student body took the day off anyway. Administration then swapped a teachers event day which gave students a day off with the anniversary so that students did not need to come to school that day. And then starting last year or even this year, the day is now a normal school day with students expected to come in. I don't know about other victim families but I know the Scotts go to Columbine every anniversary to place a rose in front of Rachel's locker.

Looking at the calendar on the CHS website, April 20 2017 had "No School-Day of Remembrance, CHS Day of Service" but April 20 2018 only has "Columbine Day of Remembrance & Service" so it appears like it starts this year
