Only 2 kills. Hundreds of people running away and only 2 kills. Maybe he should've taken some shooting lessons...

There will be several dead unfortunately. Probably 20+ fatalities. Will be interesting to see what the motives were. Witnesses claiming the suspect looked middle eastern or Asian.

Doesn't look good. I was watching the news before I left for work this morning and it said 2 dead. There was a video they showed where you could hear the gunfire and just from that you knew that 2 would soon rise to at least 20-30.

Its not a very close relationship. She said that he's one of the "big" players they get at her casino. She's pretty shaken up.

He shares a birthday with Eric Harris, according to this.
I know that's probably the least relevant detail I could post but there is not much information yet on the motive. The only thing I have seen that even suggests a motive is that he sued a casino in 2012 and lost but apparently, he's fairly local to the area so it wouldn't be surprising if he's there frequently.
The other interesting fact is that his female companion may have told everyone that they were 'going to die tonight.' Her identity is not certain, from what I've read, but a woman pushed her way to the front of the crowd, started bothering a lady standing there, and then shouted this about 45 minutes before the shooting. If his companion knew what was going to happen in advance, I'm curious what will happen to her in terms of legal consequences.
I'm surprised that there were so many casualties. How long did it go on? Even though this wasn't a terrorist, I would have thought that security would have been tighter at a crowded concert like this after all of the terrorism that we've seen lately. At some point, if these things keep happening, no one is going to want to go to any sort of event like this without metal detectors and armed guards at every entrance.

Yeah I am as well ShadowedGoddess. I just decided to wait and read more in the afternoon or tomorrow. I'm seeing lots of video being posted but it won't load at work . I'm very interested to know his weapons/ammunition/scope, I'm sure he had some decent glass. I'm sure he didn't really have to aim a whole lot due to the congestion of people but still that's pretty long range.
I'm sure it's a semi-auto, accuracy gets destroyed by auto and if he didn't mod it and used a bumper that's even less control. I just haven't heard any audio to determine what the fire rate was.

There might of been metal detectors but he fired from he's windows, he even had cameras in the hotel hallways presumably so he knew when too end it. quote="sscc"]

Choice of firearms, and the fact that there was a large gathering of people could be one of the factors of such high casualties. I would like to know the motive a bit further.

Deadliest American Shooting, depending on how things fold out, possibly the worlds deadliest lone gunman shooting.

Which report has them claiming responsibility? I'm still flipping back and forth between different ones trying to get the gist of it.

I just heard about this new shooting earlier this morning and the fact that another mass shooting occurred is not a surprise to me given the increasing civil unrest in the United States and the mass deterioration of people's psychological quality of life in the post industrial era.
What IS surprising to me is that the perpetrator was not young at all but instead this time a 64yr old man. As for his motive? Could be many things, dementia or perhaps he just really hated country music. The gambled away all my money motive seems pretty generic but possible as well.

Yep, you are right. I only saw after I posted that he had never left his room and it was a sniper style attack. Kind of explains the high number of casualties and why it could happen at all. I'm curious about the exact sort of weapons he used. Any info on that yet?
I also didn't read how long it lasted yet and I'm still curious about that. Anyone know?
And the cameras were a very smart touch. It does seem like he was intent on dying and with the cameras, he knew exactly when he had no time left.
I'd love to hear the motive. I wonder if he left any explanation. He seemed thoroughly prepared so I would be surprised to find out that he didn't write something before he did this.

The news reports were/are all over the place with this one. They just started running any new developments as they came, I'm sure they had a lot of back tracking to do on some of the earlier reports.

If people want to kill, they will kill. London bombings, japan stabbings, Breivik. I'd sacrifice hundreds of thousands of dead people by gun violence before I'd even think about allowing governments to control and oppress me without a fight.

Holy Hell seems more fitting. Have there been any confirmed casualties from the stampede? You know those people were running scared with little care for the ones who fell in front of them.

I hate to say that I am shocked at the aim and the distance and it gave me flashbacks of Charles Whitman at the top of the tower during the Texas University shooting.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] Would you mind enlightening us with what your mom knows about the shooter?
The other interesting fact is that his female companion may have told everyone that they were 'going to die tonight.' Her identity is not certain, from what I've read, but a woman pushed her way to the front of the crowd, started bothering a lady standing there, and then shouted this about 45 minutes before the shooting. If his companion knew what was going to happen in advance, I'm curious what will happen to her in terms of legal consequences.
This is going to be the root of conspiracy theories.
