Parkland Survivor Accuses 'Coward' Teacher of Locking Students out of Class

Has anyone from inside the locked classroom came forward? The article said that at least 75% of his class was left locked out. Which would make one believe that he still had kids in his room.

So you can look at it both ways. Maybe he was protecting the remaining kids by keeping the door locked and following protocol. Not saying that he was right. But he didn't know what would be coming back through that door.  Thankfully the other teacher decided to not follow it and opened the door for them.

"The teacher told the Sun-Sentinel the students fell behind in the drill and got stuck outside the room. He only acted in accordance with protocol, Gard said, which tells teachers to lock their doors in the event of a drill or actual active-shooter event.

“I looked back down the hall and no one was around — no one,” Gard said. “You have to close the door. That’s protocol. We have no choice.”

He told the outlet that all the kids managed to find a safe spot to hide.

Gard told the paper that six students returned to his classroom after the assumed fire drill and were all crowded near his desk when they heard banging at the door. “I told the kids we can’t let anyone in,” he said. “We had no idea if it was a drill or not."
