In case you want a quick summary of events, here it is: -At least two people and possibly four convinced Chris-chan that they were able to influence his make-pretend world "CWCville" -After fully convincing Chris that they were able to influence events in his fantasy world they threatened to start killing characters native to CWCville off and destroy it wholesale unless Chris caved to their demands -They forced him to call himself a pedophile, punch himself in the face several times, and even punch his own mother in order to hoard more blackmail material on him -With this blackmail material they had Chris send them money, toys, and Steam cards, which in total cost Chris $6,000 -After some people convinced Chris to break away from the scammers, Chris and several others have filed police reports and contacted the FBI; no charges have been pressed against the extortionists as of this writing
In case you don't know who Chris-chan is, he is an autistic man in his thirties infamous for the creation of the poorly made webcomic Sonichu and has been trolled on and off for the past ten years.

Shows how sick some people can be to take advantage of someone who is as mentally handicapped as Chris, I know the trolls have done some fucked stuff to him, but this is way over the line.

Huh, Null and Chris are on friendly terms. Truly this is the strangest timeline.

I hope the police will not forget this case because there is only one grown-up victim (at least we know of) and keep searching for the scammers.

I think Chris Chan is giving a bad name to autism. I think everyone assumes that if you're on the spectrum then you must be like him. I think it is even tough for people with autism to find jobs as they get turned away as their employer will think it would be too difficult to hire someone like THAT (basing the person's diagnosis on the bad reputation of people like Chris).

What has that go to do with Chris being blackmailed?

He really, really doesn't, and bringing this up in a thread where the topic is that he's the victim of a serious crime is rather poor form on your part.

I'm not even sure if a formal investigation has been launched yet; so far it seems that the police haven't even taken the reports seriously at all.

Chris' antics and all that are pretty funny, but some of the trolling is messed up. This is especially sick.

Please point me to the general Chris thread. I think it does have something to do with this topic, as it is shows a false message that people with autism are easily weak minded and easily manipulated.
Also being broke and being turned down by every employer for being 'too difficult to work with' (despite the employer knowing nothing about you, other than your diagnosis) and being told you can only stack shelves for a living sucks. Especially when they are using people like Chris as an example of what autism is.
I feel Chris has become a mainstream representative/example of autism as a whole and he is one of the reasons why people use the word out of context as a throw away joke. I guess it is just me, but every time he is in the spot light for doing something stupid it is usually blamed on the autism and not him.

I'm sorry but nobody can be blackmailed into doing those things. I don't care if he has autism or not. There is a difference between stupidity and autism. I guess you disagree with my point that he is making individuals with autism looks like idiots that can be easily manipulated.

I didn't know him before this thread but he probably never asked to be a representative of autism. He's just a man who do things AND is autistic. It's people who use him as a representative of autism who are to blame.

I think you are too harsh with him. Things escalate with blackmail. It starts with not that serious things and the more you do the more they ask horrible things. Maybe not everyone would go up to punch their own mother, but I don't think we can know how we would react until it happens to us.

Although I don't think we can say he is stupid because of what he did, you say that he acted out of stupidity and not because of his autism. So why should he represents autism, instead of stupidity? It's not his fault if people generalize, he didn't ask for it.

Ok you seriously need to drop this hateboner for Chris because you're falling dangerously close into A-Log territory.

Either way you look at it using someone's disability against them is wrong in my opinion. To scare them, or trick them out of money and other things is about as low as you can fucking be.
All involved in this needs a swift throat punch.
