Did you mean first spree shooter or first spree killer ever? I just ask this because i am aware there were spree killings prior to 1987 that didn't involve guns.
EDIT: Just realized this post is in the Columbine Documents / evidence section

Hi queenfarooq , i was referring to the 1st English modern day mass shooter. I believe that Ryan was the 1st man in England to walk around town shooting people for kicks

I don't think he did for kicks to be honest, Ryan was a recluse and a bit of a mummy's boy who lived a sheltered life from what I heard.

Hi Moseley ,when i said Ryan did it for " kicks " i said it in a loose and general way. In a sense Ryan did get a " kick " out of it. He chose to go on a killing spree. After the 1st murder Ryan could have threw his gun away in disgust ,he didn't and continued killing. So obviously he DID get a " kick " out of it. His " kick " could have been based on Anger ,depression etc. You know what could have triggered it ? The day of the massacre Ryan's routine was to go target practice at the ' Tunnel Rifle and Pistol Club in Devizes. He got in his car and decided to go to the forest instead. A 35 year old lady called Susan Godfrey was having a picnic with her two kids. Hannah was 4 and James was 2. Then Ryan appeared. Dressed all in black ,Ryan ordered Susan to put her kids in her car. The kids saw Ryan grab their mum and march her deeper into the woods. Moments later they heard gun shots and Ryan ran to his car and sped off quickly. Susan had been shot 13 times! A theory regarding the " over kill " was that Susan had rejected his "advances". No shi*! She obviously wouldn't " get it on " with a stranger and in the company of her children. Anyway ,after Ryan had just killed Susan he stopped at a petrol station and filled up his Vauxhall Astra ( i used to drive one ) with fuel. He opened the boot ,grabbed his AK47 and fired at the kiosk lady called Kakoub Dean ( wife of the garage owner ) she ducked and didn't get hit. Ryan walked into the garage and Kakoub pleaded for her life. Ryan pulled the trigger. He ran out of ammo. Kakoub stated : " I know i am lucky to be alive. He would have killed me. He didn't smile ,he didn't blink. He didn't do anything. He just stared straight through me as if i wasn't there." It appears to me that Ryan was kind of " robotic " and emotionless at this time. He drove to his home in Hungerford and was spotted by a neighbor called Margery Jackson : " Ryan looked upset or angry ". ( No shi* he had every reason to be ,he just killed a mother of 2 ) He wanted to destroy any evidence at home ,so he set it on fire. He grabbed his survival kit. His kit had large amounts of ammo ,a respirator ,a balaclava ,combat trousers ,flak jacket ,shoulder holster and first aid. He had 3 firearms : a 9mm Semi-auto Beretta ( used to kill Susan ) ,an M1 Carbine semi-auto assault rifle and a Kalashnikov AK47. The AK47 was loaded with Armour piercing bullets ,military use and imported from Hungary. He jumped in his car ,turned the key and it wouldn't start!! There was no escape and so he was on foot and loaded up and then the massacre kicked off big style....

Yep, I remember watching a documentary a while ago, he was a lot more indiscriminate than H/K were, he seemingly shot anyone in his path. I remember he even shot one guy whilst he was tending his garden, poor bloke.

Yep ,he certainly did. The murder of Susan Godfrey was just sick beyond words. Killing her while her little kids were waiting in her car!?! Ryan hadn't been in a relationship for several years. He probably intended to rape Susan ,then she thought back and Ryan exploded with rage and " over killed " her. He could have dropped the gun and walked into a police station and faced the music. Hid dad died shortly before the massacre. CHECK THIS OUT : Before leaving his house ( after setting the fire ) he shot dead his dog Brandy. Ryan closed his eyes as he shot her!! Clearly there was some goodness about him ,he wasn't ALL bad. I guess he loved his dog because he could have let her burn alive ,but he prevented her from suffering. MICHAEL ROBERT RYAN IS A MYSTERY:?: ESPECIALLY HIS LIFE STORY:?: WE SHALL NEVER KNOW WHY HE DID THE MASSACRE:?:

Did you watch the documentary on youtube? They make him look a lot more cooler and attractive than he actually was. Hate that about documentaries sometimes, who depart dramatically from the actual murderer. Also, yes I believe he shot his dog to save it the agony of dying in the fire.

I have seen it a couple of times on telly & Youtube. Have you read the transcript of Ryan's conversation with the police ? It led up to his suicide. He kept asking about his mum and if she was ok. She would have been ok if he hadn't had shot her..

Yep, that was really eerie, I think in that particular moment he finally came back to his senses and understood the mayhem he caused.

I think that the Hungerford Massacre is one of the most mysterious shootings because nobody knows what Michael's original plan was, if he even had one.
