One of the earliest mass shootings took place in the British Raj (now India) in 1878.
In June 1878 a Baloch sepoy killed six people and seriosuly wounded four others in Hyderabad, Sindh, British Raj. Early in the morning the soldier shot his mistress, whom he believed unfaithful, and then took 100 rounds of ammuntion and left the barracks. Out in the street he shot at anyone who crossed his path, until he himself was killed by one of his officers. Wikipedia article
