Odd what if question.

I was just thinking about Eric and Dylan’s dynamic and maybe what would have changed if they weren’t all in.

What if Eric shot and killed Devon and Dylan turned his back on Eric and shot him?

I think that’s why the strength of their friendship is such an important component of the whole massacre.

Would people have looked at them differently? They already have fangirls but do you think it would have been more romanticized?

I have always wondered what would have happened if either of them had voiced any fears about not wanting to go thru with it. A part of me thinks this could have happened and that the other must have persuaded them to go thru with it.

It has been said that they both egged each other's anger on.

There have been quite a few posts on things like what if Eric shot Dylan's mom or Dylan shot Eric's mom etc and how that would have happened. I don't think for the most part that Eric would have killed Devon, but let's say he did... I honestly at that point in time don't see Dylan turning on him. Dylan went into it knowing he was going to die that day. I don't know that he would have cared enough to get angry at Eric over it.

I think though if Dylan did shoot Eric there would be a zillion more Eric Fangirls for poor poor defenseless Eric and less fangirls for Dylan. Then again... there are a surprising amount of women that love that kind of bad boy so who knows lol

It has ventured into my head if one shot the other during the massacre but they did seem like a strong bond glued together with rage and depression so not sure what the point would be, honestly getting rid of one would just mean less destruction against the school which would go against their plan, and I believe they both knew that was their last day anyway. Why shoot the one person you had your back for years before when not many did.

If one was shot before the event I think the same, NBK would be ruined and they both planned it for so long and were excited about it. Wouldn't really make sense to me if one shot the other.

If one was shot before the event I think the same, NBK would be ruining ed and they both planned it for so long and were excited about it. Wouldn't really make sense to me if one shot the other.

I do think part of Dylan kind of settled on Eric at the beginning when Zach met Devon etc... However I think towards the end especially that last year they were definitely each other’s best friends. You have to have a very strong bond to do something like that. Really seems like a very strong friendship for two teenage boys as well.

True.

I really think that Dylan was very far gone by that day. So any stories or speculation about Dylan being upset about Rachel dying etc. are all really just Things to make Dylan seem less culpable than he was I think. And shine a light on Eric as being the psychopathic evil one

Makes me think of the movie "Elephant" where one of the shooters kills the other.

I have weird what if question

What if all the school shooters after columbine are possessed by/reincarnations of Eric... And Erics spirit is forever stuck on earth in a continuous loop of building all those feelings of rage, hatred, and pain all over again until he finally SNAPS.
He wakes up in a new body.
The cycle begins again...
The torture continues.

I often wonder why Eric and Dylan didn't kill everyone in the library. Yeah some were injured and weren't moving and ultimately survived... but they definitely didn't shoot everyone.

I had a similar friendship in high school, actually my only friend at the time, my best friend, and I think people around us thought we were going to shoot up the school (which we joked about) we were total outcasts that didn't have many friends and we mostly just hung out with each other, people thought we were strange and creepy and faculty didn't care for us. I know what its like to have a bond strong enough like it seems Eric and Dylan had so it doesn't doubt me a bit that they had something similar.
